puppetmasterd memory usage
...,
and is in minutes, but I was to lazy to add another axis, so it''s
just stuck on top of the memory usage. Anyway, it''s just there to
show that the load on the box generated by the clients was
relatively constant.
The question is: why is the memory usage rising so steeply during the
first 4 days, and then stays almost flat?
At first I thought this may be puppetmasterd caching some data about the
clients, and it takes time to propagate to all load-balanced
puppetmasterd processes. But we have about 15 minute run interval, so
this would happen much quicker than 4 da...

R Kaplan-Meier plotting quirks?
...um possible dates (same number of losses/retention, but retention
times are longer, the length to the next capture without a tag, typically
25-30 days or more) does not show as steep of a drop in the first few days,
but at about the point the minimum estimate levels off this one begins
dropping steeply. 400 days out the plot with minimum possible estimates has
tag survival of about 80%, whereas the plot with the same loss rate but
longer assumed survival times shows only a 20% assumed survival at 400
days. Complicating this of course is the fact that the great majority of
the animals die befo...

imap-login (proxy) Connection queue full
When running Dovecot (rc6 CVS dovecot-20060808) as a proxy, why would it log the following when it has not yet maxed out the allowed number of imap-login processes?
Aug 10 16:23:34 director5 dovecot: imap-login: Disconnected: Connection queue full:
I am seeing this logged several times per minute. From netstat, the server has 650 proxied IMAP connections and 450 proxied IMAPS connections, there

GLM model vs. GAM model
I have a question about how to compare a GLM with a GAM model using anova
function.
A GLM is performed for example:
model1 <-glm(formula = exitus ~ age+gender+diabetes, family = "binomial",
na.action = na.exclude)
A second nested model could be:
model2 <-glm(formula = exitus ~ age+gender, family = "binomial", na.action =
na.exclude)
To compare these two GLM

OT: PRI costs in US
Hello!
Several of my customers would like to add a backup to their Internet
connection. ISDN is a good solution: decently fast for a dial-up-type
connection, yet still faily affordable. While I was at it, I decided to
look at a couple of more creative telephone service options to possibly
improve their service or lower costs at the same time. These customers
range from having just a
