Frottle + Bridge + IMQ
...that goes
out of eighter LAN NIC into IMQ device and impose QoS policy on top of
it. This will allow to use in the most efficient manner all available
WAN bandwidth.
Is there any patch for 2.4.x kernel that allows multiple (cascading)
queuing ? Is this limitation exists in 2.6 kernel ?
Thanks
M. Stavrev
P.S. I know I can easily solve my problems by using two linux boxes -
one for frottle and one for the internet shaping, still my question
remains, any ideas would be appreciated.

Squid + shaping question
...g a caching
proxy pretty much.
After lots of googling and reading(at one point I was ready to completely
forget squid) a came up with the following alternatives, both found on the
FAQ section of www.docum.org - ''SQUID zero penalty for HIT traffic patch'' by
a fellow bulgarian Marin Stavrev, and a patch giving you the ability to ''use
ACL lists to put packets in classes'' by a guy named Patrick.
I''d like to ask you for your experiences with those, which one is better,
any other alternatives you know of and of course general
recipes/recommendations for solving...

Any NISTNet alternative or fix ?
Hi,
I need to simulate (with a certain degree of control) common WAN
problems like packet loss/duplication, delay and conditions of limited
bandwidth. I found that NISTNet is what i need, but it seems the package
has not been updated since October, 2000.
This is not really a problem as I found NISTNet runs perfectly with
Linux kernels up to 2.4.23 (officially 2.4.18 is the latest mentioned in

SQUID zero penalty for HIT trraffic patch
Hi,
I was reviewing the patch Patrick McHardy has contributed to squid QoS
features (http://trash.net/~kaber/squid-qos/), and decided to do something
similar which could classify client side traffic based on whether SQUID''s
response is a cache HIT or a cache MISS. I think I got it working. I made
a quick home page for this patch, so anyone interested in trying it can
