FYI conflict between statnet, igraph
Dear R users: There appears to be a conflict between the statnet package and the igraph package. With igraph loaded into memory, the network() function of statnet failed, returning the error to the effect that the matrix being converted was "not a graph object." Removing igraph from memory restored statnet to proper function. Apologies if this is red...

hold position of vertices constant in network {statnet}?
I am a novice with network fuctions! I have been exploring the network function in the statnet package, but haven't been able to figure out how to hold vertices in position while varying edge features. Can anyone advise on whether this is possible, and if so, how to do it? Thanks! -- Matthew Bakker, Ph.D. Department of Plant Pathology University of Minnesota 495 Borlaug Hall 1991 Upper...

Reshaping Data for bi-partite Network Analysis
...he Dataset is fairly large (couple hundreds of people and places), and I would very much appreciate if someone could point me to a routine or function that could transform my Input dataset to the required Output, Thank you very much in advance Regards Sylvain PS: sorry for cross-posting this on statnet and then on R help list, but I received a message from statnet pointing out the question was more related to general data management than actual network analysis. Which is true indeed... [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

R Package developer job at the University of Washington, Seattle
We have a position available for an experienced R programmer to provide support for software development for statnet, a suite of R packages for Exponential Random Graph Modeling (http://statnet.org -- most content is on the wiki). The current statnet development team includes several PhD level statisticians, some faculty from other disciplines, and an independent software developer. Funding is available for...

Nash equilibrium and other game theory tools implemented in networks using igraph or similar
Does anyone know of some code, and examples that implement game theory/Nash equilibrium hypothesis testing using existing packages like igraph/statnet or similar? Perhaps along the lines of this article: Zhang, Y., Aziz-Alaoui, M. A., Bertelle, C., & Guan, J. (2014). Local Nash Equilibrium in Social Networks, *4*, 6224. Visualization of two-mode matrix/ networks/ graphs
Hey all, I'm looking for a plotting method for two-mode networks. Having a n x m matrix where n is the first set of entities/ actors and m representing the second set, I want to colour both sets of actors differently. I tried "plot.network" from the network-package, but I did not succeed. Even the proposed solution from Gabor Grothendiek

Strange error messages from parallel::mcparallel family under 3.6.0
...# Ultimately, what I want to do is to be able to set a time limit for an expression to be evaluated that would be enforced even inside compiled code. (R.utils::withTimeout() uses base::setTimeLimit(), which can only enforce within R code.) # Implementation # The approach that my implementation, statnet.common::forkTimeout() (source attached for convenience), uses is to call mcparallel() to evaluate the expression in a child process, then mccollect() with wait=FALSE and a timeout to give it a chance to finish. If it runs past the timeout, the child process is killed and an onTimeout value is retur...

Correlation Network Diagram?
Hi all On page 39 of this paper [1] by Andrew Lo there is a very interesting correlation network diagram (sorry I dont have a more convenient link to the type of diagram I'm talking about). does anyone know of any package in R that can generate these types of diagrams?
