...> exact option, although static template comes to mind.
This is great... but it's not showing a full listing of what's in my
directory. My MP3 collection is housed in /music/. There are
subdirectories #, A, B, C, etc... none of these show up on the page.
The setting in icecast.conf is: staticdir /music
If I specify the filename manually for on-demand streaming, it works
fine... I just can't get them listed on the webpage.

mountpoint
can anybody explain to me the mountpoint that is mentioned by icecast
version 1.3.12?
I see that the mountpoint is /default
what does this mean and how can I change it in the icecast.conf file.
I am running this on a freebsd 4.7 STABLE release.

Shouldn't audio-on-demand be served through the staticdir variable in your

Liveice not streaming to Icecast?
I'm totally new to this, so forgive me.
I've installed Icecast, Liveice, Lame and MPG123 in usr/local directory,
each with its own directory.
In icecast.conf I've set the server name to a name that resolves to home
network IP address. streamurl is set to http://servername:8000. staticdir is
set to /usr/local/icecast/static.
In liveice.cfg, the servername is the same as in icecast.conf. passwork is
the same as encoder_passwork in icecast.conf and URL is set to
http://servername. the file playlist contains the absolute address to an mp3
file. some of the other settings are SOUND...

QUESTION ABOUT IMPLEMENTATION
hi,
have to host a web-shop which has got the possibility to
stream mp3's on demand.
those mp3's are prerecorded. is there a possibility to
stream local files to the users directly or do i have to use
an encoder ??
thanx

about the working scenario
hi,I did not have any prior experience with broadcasting mp3 stream. I
am really confused with the working scenario of icecast .
I have been assuming that "shout" is the one who decode mp3 audio file
and send the stream out to a already started "icecast" server, then
"icecast" server stream the mp3 file to one or several client who is
listening. But at first in my

Yes. The support is there, but it's not great. The staticdir config
option points to a dir of files. And then you can access these at
http://url:port/files/blah.mp3. Note that it probably won't generate
m3u's for you. I have forgotten if it does that or not.
