Can someone explain why smbmount under Samba-2.0.3 (compiled under GNU/Linux Slackware, kernel 2.2.5, egcc 2.90.29) compiles smbmount, however, when I run smbmount, it's really smbclient? If I can't use smbmount, then I can't mount my NT server. smbsh isn't worth crap, it always segfaults on me. I'm running libc5.5.46. Can anyone help me? "There are 3 things to remember

apple mail, and mails marked as deleted
hi, is this a feature or a bug in conjunction with apple mail. i usually use the feature in imap to not delete the emails, but only mark them as deleted, which is a very usefull feature if you use a emailbox with more people accessing it. Im now trying an SME server installation with dovecot 0.99.10, and when i delete a message, it gets marked as deletet, but as soon as i change the mailbox

stat() failed with mbox /var/mail/%u
Hello, Over the last 12 hours or so, I've been wrestling with a mysterious dovecot issue. After upgrading a mail server I'm helping my friend with maintaining from Fedora Core1 to Fedora Core4, I realized that I couldn't use UW-IMAP4 anymore (well, I can compile it myself, but it turned out that UW-IMAP was the main cause of the server's having load average as high as 30 from

dovecot 0.99.14 and imaps (SSL) "hangs"
Hello, I just decided to try dovecot again after a long pause, and I must say that I am very impressed with the speed and resource usage, even when running with UNIX mailboxes. However, I have a problem with SSL. Every two minutes the connection is frozen, and the client has to reconnect after it times out waiting for a response from the server. My IMAP client fetches all headers, and then

Simulate an AR(1) process via distributions? (without specifying a model specification)
Dear All, Is it possible to simulate an AR(1) process via a distribution? I have simulated an AR(1) process the usual way (that is, using a model specification and using the random deviates in the error), and used the generated time series to estimate 3- and 4-parameter distributions (for instance, GLD). However, the random deviates generated from these distributions do not follow the

geometric mean of probability density functions
Hi, This is my first time posting to the mailing list, so if I'm doing something wrong, just let me know. I've taken ~1000 samples from 8 biological replicates, and I want to somehow combine the density functions of the replicates. Currently, I can plot the density function for each biological replicate, and I'd like to see how pool of replicates compares to a simulation I conducted

Wish list
This is my New Year wishlist for R features. One common thread is that I find I sometimes use languages other than R including javascript, Windows batch and gawk. Others have mentioned other languages too. It would be nice if, in those cases I could use R simplifying development into a single environment (viz. R). The following are not in any order. 1. Self Contained Executables Make it

Vis5D interface package
Greetings, Summary: Has anyone else started a package (or have code) with the capability to write Vis5D-readable netCDF files containing irregularly-spaced data? I've recently put together what might be the beginnings of a (GPL'ed) R interface package to the Vis5D volumetric visualization program (http://vis5d.sourceforge.net). Vis5D is commonly used in the atmospheric science and

Continue HD boot option?
Hi, I have boon Googling quite a bit on this, but is it possible: I want to build an ISOLINUX boot CD, but want one of the option to be "Continue booting from hard drive" and thus disregard booting from the kernel on the CD. Is it possible? Or what can I do to force a HD boot from ISOLINUX.CFG? Thanks Herman Starship Systems

Checking remote servers
I''d like to hear some suggestions about securely administering a system remotely. Here''s the application: a project is going to scatter some server machines around the US. The server machines will be running Linux, with the only network servers being a custom application. Ignoring the separate question of physical security, how can I remotely check the system''s
