Can connect to shares via IP but not hostname
Last night I upgraded my FC5 to samba-3.0.23c from 3.0.21b. As a result I can no longer browse shares on the samba server via \\hostname\share\. I can, however, access everything as usual via \\10.0.0.2\share\. Nothing else in my config has changed. The hostname resolves from all machines on the domain correctly so it's doesn't appear to be a name resolution issue. I can see the

LAN sip-to-sip
I'm reading the O'Reilly "Asterisk the definitive guide", 4th ed, with a starfish on it. In some ways, astonishing that it's not really that definitive, it's more general -- and it only clocks in at one ream of paper! In any event, I'm having some port problems on my home network: http://security.stackexchange.com/questions/81752/ I need to open ports for Aster...

Large scale Rails deployments
Hi, I''m currently helping out with a large scale rails application deployment. The idea is to have an apache 2.2 with mod_proxy serving out to a farm of mongrels distributed on N number of servers. We''ll also have some Starfish nodes doing processor intensive tasks distributed on N number of servers as well. I was wondering if anyone had any experience of managing and montitoring these types of deployments and how they have any tips/advice. Cheers Jonathan -------- http://www.agileevolved.com -- Posted via http://w...

centralized or decentralized puppet infrastructure
Hi All, In my companies environment, we have multiple sites in multiple geographic locations, sometimes with high latency between the sites. I''m trying to come up with a solution that could provide puppet infrastructure to all sites nodes. ----a few assumptions--- - puppet manifest / configuration is fetched from a centralized version control system. - store db is needed (ssh keys,
