Simple Samba Guide (Here it is)
I made a page to help anyone who simply wants these things:
1) Samba to work.
2) Shortest amount of steps.
3) Autoreconnect at login to work.
I've condensed setting up samba into four easy steps.
I hope this helps a lot of people.

Bug in PE_LoadImage/map_image? [Was: VirtualProtect and app crash]
I used WinDbg to show the memory protections that were placed on the
executable image just after it was loaded, and just before the app starts.
Here is what wine shows:
0x400000 - 0x765fff c-rw-
Here is what WinDbg shows (manually edited to look like the wine view):
0x400000 - 0x400fff c-r-- (PAGE_READONLY)
0x401000 - 0x454fff c--W- (PAGE_WRITECOPY)

Desired Install in MotorHome
I've got a client who would love to be able to leave an asterisk
server running sompelace, and achieve telephone connectivity using an
IP phone from within his Motorhome in his words "I want to be able to
work from a mountaintop in Glacier National Park"
I've done some initial testing, and a SNOM200 SIP phone comes close
enough to working that I have not ruled out the idea as

Setup exits with empty dialog box!
Hi all,
I'm just getting started using WINE. I set it up, and it runs the
canonical Solitaire game just fine. My WINE config file is attached.
I popped in a Sierra Generations Family Tree Deluxe CD and ran its setup
program. A small window titled "Setup" appears with a gas gauge and the
text "Generations(R) 4.2 Setup is preparing the InstallShield(R) Wizard

Remote Telecasts?
All --
Does anyone have experience doing remote live broadcasts over Icecast? My
thought is to use a Dell laptop running Windows (yeah, I know ;-), digitize
locally to 16khz, and pump the output to a remote Linux box.
Has anyone done something like this before? Thoughts? Issues?
Thanks,
Roy

LoadOEMResource crash [Was: Re: Problem report: SHRINKER.ERR, fix to DEVICE_Open/CreateFileA? ]
Hooray, I got gdb to do what I need, to skip the first exception and
break before the second.
The key commands are:
gdb (winepath)/bin/wine
Set the arguments:
> set args --winver nt40 yourapp
Tell gdb to pass segmentation faults to the program:
> handle SIGSEGV nostop pass
Set a breakpoint at main:
> b main
Run the program:
> run
This loads all the shared libraries, and

Problem with OpenSSH 2.9p2
Hello.
I've recently switched to OpenSSH from the other ssh's.
When I ssh into to a box one at a time, it works fine.
However when I want to connect 4 times quickly, none of them ever
connect.
ie:
Doing this four times:
xterm -e connect-to-box1 &
ssh -v shows the following:
It gets to this part on EACH terminal and it hangs forever.
ssh -v -l war thebox.com

OpenSSH Compatiblity Problems.
Not sure which list this should go to, so I'll include both.
When I SSH from a 2.9.9p2 client to a OpenSSH 2.1.1 server, it often
hangs at this point.
It will hang there for days on end.
If I open up 9 xterms and run that command, 2-3 will login.
I have no problems using ssh1 (commercial).
And openssh has no problems logging into newer servers > 2.1.1.
Anyone know why this might be?

LoadOEMResource crash [Was: Re: Problem report: SHRINKER.ERR, fix to DEVICE_Open/CreateFileA? ]
Hi Pavel,
Can you run your app under winedbg? When I run my app under winedbg, it
segfaults inside the application code with a bad read access. The
specific instruction it faults on is movl 0x10(%esi),%eax (aka mov
[esi+0x10],eax for IDA users). I'm curious to know if your app uses the
same library as mine...
