Problems loading chan_h323 on Opteron 64 bit
Hi, I compiled asterisk and chan_h323 on an Opteron in 64 bit mode. In the h323's Makefile I replaced in line 24 CFLAGS += -march=$(shell uname -m) by CFLAGS += -march=k8 and also tried CFLAGS += -m64 -march=k8 Both solutions do compile, but when starting asterisk, a load error occurs: undefined symbol: _ZN14H323Connection24OnUserInputInlineRFC2833ER15OpalRFC2833Infoi When I grep

Arguments for Samba instead of NT-Server
Hello, Can anyone give me arguments that could convince someone to choose for Samba for file and print sharing instead of setting up a NT-server? Performance ? Stability ? Benchmarks ? Tests that someone has done? Things like: "It's free" or "You don't need a powerful machine" are irrelevant to our administrators. I'm looking for answers on questions like:

samba tuning on a server with > 1 GB mem.Suggestions ?? + 2.2.2 problems
Hi,all Does anyone have experience on how to tune on a server with lots of memory ? I'm upgrading one of our servers as mem is do cheap at the moment and I'd like samba to be able to utilize that.Any pointers on parameters to tweak ? First upgrade will be 1280 MB mem next step might be 2 GB depending on the performance gain (if noticable). It's not that the machine is slow or

It seems to me the best course might be to let Linux handle the memory. It'll devote a big chunk of it to disk cache, which will probably do more for performance than anything you could tweak on Samba. I'm not too worried about Samba tuning myself, since our server bottlenecks at the 100baseT full-duplex ethernet connection it's on -- it can easily saturate the bandwidth. If we

Authenticating from Windows domains via winbind the easy way
Sorry if this sounds like an advertisement, but in the past 6 weeks or so there have probably been close on 100 questions on getting Winbind working. For those of you who are new to linux/samba, you may want to consider using Mandrake 9.0 for your first implementation, since *everything* (ok, there is one bug which I will mention) is taken care of for you. When installed in expert mode, you
