Weighted Regression
...of what I want to do as well as my lack of ability
to do it in R.
I am trying to fit some hospital admissions data to a series of
weather variables. Due to my lack of knowledge, I am making the crude
assumption that the admissions have normally distributed errors (I have
taken the square root to stabalise the variance and it looks ok on a QQ
plot). Having fitted a series of linear models, I seem to have highly
significant p-values with very low R^2 (although we would presumably
expect R^2 to be fairly low as I am dealing in health data). I think the
p-values are probably artificially low as I have t...

Wrong samba version in C5.2 updates?
Hi,
the latest upstream version of samba rpms for 5.2 is
samba-3.0.28-1.el5_2.1. In the Centos 5.2 updates tree there is only
samba-3.0.28-0.el5.8 which also is already part of the 5.2 os tree.
Could it be that the updates tree just carries the wrong rpms?
Best regards,
Bernd

network and stability issues
...assis swap (
thanks to the guys in the DC who executed this within minutes ); and we
have since again had network issues - although power to the DC and the
server seems stable now.
Over the next 24 hours, lets just try and be a bit patient and work with
this. We have good backups so if things dont stabalise in the next 24
hrs we will failover.
The primary reason we have not done this as yet ( failover ), is down to
the fact that its taken a long time, in years, for us to build a
reputation with large hosting facilities and email providers and are on
many whitelists. Moving the host over makes it hard...
