confidence interval in "predict.lm"
...32.96429 30.61253 35.31604 $se.fit [1] 0.9148715 $df [1] 5 $residual.scale [1] 2.348252 The book gives the confidence interval as 26.5 <= y <= 39.5. The book defines the confidence interval calculation thus: yp - E <= y <= yp + E Where E = tc*sC *sqrt(1 + 1/n + (x-xBar)^2/SSx) yp is the predicted value from the regression line tc is the value from Student's t distribution for a confidence level, c, using n-2 degrees of freedom, sC is the standard error of estimate SSx is Sum(x^2)-[Sum(x)]^2/n n is the number of data pairs. So that even though the...

formula used by R to compute the t-values in a linear regression
Hello, I was wondering if someone knows the formula used by the function lm to compute the t-values. I am trying to implement a linear regression myself. Assuming that I have K variables, and N observations, the formula I am using is: For the k-th variable, t-value= b_k/sigma_k With b_k is the coefficient for the k-th variable, and sigma_k =(t(x) x )^(-1) _kk is its standard deviation.

RAM usage
Hi, I'm having problems while working with large data sets with R 1.5.1 in windows 2000. Given a integer matrix size of 30 columns and 15000 rows my function should return a boolean matrix size of about 5000 rows and 15000 columns. First of all I tried to run this function on computer with 256 MB of RAM. I increased memory limit of R with memory.limit() up to 512 MB. I was inspecting

Multichannel files
Hi, As I´ve understood things, the Ogg Vorbis format supports more that two channels (stereo). Is there any tools to encode x sourcefiles into one .ogg file? I am a musican and am thrilled with the ide of makeing music in surround (or in more than stereo). This leads to my next question: is there (developing) any decoders for multichannel oggs to, let us say, 4.1 or 5.1 surround? Wouldn´t it
