icecast2 is killed when client connects (on sparc32)
hi ! i have succesfully compiled libshout/icecast/ices on a quad ss20 (4xhypersparc@125mhz, 128mb ram). ten out of ten for a robust, cross-platform build, guys ! it compiled straight out of the box. i can start the server and it even connects to a remote server and starts to relay. when i run xmms from another machine and connect, it stops at "pre-buffering...

scp vs ftp performance on SGI IRIX????????
Hi, Running OpenSSH 3.5p1 or 3.7.1p2 on two SGI orgin 300 systems of IRIX 6.5.17 with 4 600MHz CPU and gigabits network. Transfer a 1GB file with ftp took 28 seconds. Transfer a 1GB file with scp took 148 seconds. Use "snoop" to capture all network packets between these two systems. Ftp tansmitted about 107840 packets, but scp transmitted about 763339 packets. Is this normal? Why?

Improving v2 connection exchange.
I just finished net-installing OpenBSD on my Sparc (yay.. <sigh>), and I'm noticing how extremely slow it is to connect (20 - 30 seconds) as compared to v1 protocol to the Sparc.. or even v2 from my dual 533mhz to itself. (The sparc is a ss20 w/ a 150mhz processor, it's works nicely after the key exchange is finished.) Is there any reasonable way to improve the connection speed for v2 on slower hardware? debug: Sending SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REQUEST. debug: Wait SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GROUP. debug: Got SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_GRO...

ssh-rand-helper probs
...an Ultra 450 that amongst other things, installs, configures SSH and auto-generates SSH keys as part of the client build. No problems there, it works quite nicely so that when the client finishes building, it can be immediately deployed. At home however, I practice and experiment alot. I use an SS20 with 224MB of RAM as a boot server but I get a different set of errors depending on what I do: The first time I tried this type of installation of SSH at home however I got an error that read: "ld.so.1: /a/usr/local/bin/ssh-keygen: fatal: libz.so: open failed: No such file or directory. Help with displaying multiple data elements on one graph
...at I'm looking for is, say, a CPU graph which graphs user, system, and idle time as a cumulative stack representing each data element as a different color. See the following URL for an example of this graph generated by RRDtool (which is sort of a bad example as there is no idle time on my SS20): http://chivas.seanoneill.info/orca/o_gauge_usr_pct,o_gauge_sys_pct,o_gauge_wio_pct,o_gauge_idle_pct-daily.html Any help appreciated. - ........................................................ ......... ..- -. .. -..- .-. ..- .-.. . ... ............ .-- .. -. -... .-.. --- .-- ... -.. .-. ---...

Help compiling tinc in Solaris 2.6
I have a ss20 running Solaris 2.6 (and gcc 3.2) in which I want to install tinc. So, I run the configure script, ./configure --build=sparc-sun-solaris2.6 --host=sparc-sun-solaris2.6 --target=sparc-sun-solaris2.6 --with-openssl-include=/usr/local/ssl/include --with-openssl-lib=/usr/local/ssl/lib --with-zli...

slow sparc questions
I've got a couple of SPARCstation 2s (about as fast as a fast 486, for most thing) that I'm going to be using for some testing. I realize that these machines are a bit slow, but when connecting via OpenSSH, it's MUCH slower than connecting to my 486-DX 50. The point where it waits is just after "debug: Sent encrypted session key.". The pause is for about 10 seconds, while

[Bug 769] dh-group-exchange should be configurable off in client and server
...e OpenSSH client and server should both allow dh-group-exchange to be turned off (and in general, allow configuration of kex method preferences). Supporting data: On slow machines (e.g., 486-class, old SPARCs), dh-gex takes an unreasonably long time (e.g., 14 seconds for gex followed by kex on a SS20 server). Disabling gex (at the client end - there's a config option in PuTTY) gives a much more sensible delay (2 seconds). Also, from draft-ietf-secsh-architecture-15.txt: The following policy issues SHOULD be addressed in the configuration mechanisms of each implementation: [....
