SRIOV test on Xen with Intel 82576
Hi,
I am working of Intel 82576 device to test the SRIOV functionality. I want
to assign VFs to a VMs(domU) and verify the control and data path.
I installed Xen-unstable with 2.6.30-rc3(dom0). But the SRIOV functionality
isn''t working, because MSI is not supported.
Please let me know, what version of Xen and dom0 supports above
functionality?...

SRIOV with and without vt-d
Hello Everyone,
Can any one help me understand, if by Enabling or Disabling the VT - d makes
any difference for the 10G SRIOV to function correctly?

[libvirt] SRIOV configuration
Hello,
We encountered a problem while testing SRIOV on kubevirt [1]:
We are currently using the Device "hostdev" generic options to
pass-through the VF to the guest.
It is not done through the "interface" (with type hostdev) because
that option requires access to the PF which is not available in our
case (the VF is moved to the...

Trace SRIOV NIC''s MSI-X delivery to Xen
Hi all,
I''m using Xen4.0.1 with SLES11SP1 with Intel''s SRIOV NIC in passthrough
mode to FedoraCore14 guest HVMs.
From guest HVM I''m able to send packets out but not able to receive the
same.
Intel NIC HW counters are reporting receiving packets but the same is
not reaching the guest HVM.
My NIC uses MSI-X to report packets to SW. which should b...

Currently I'm not familiar with the PM part.
But I still think the sriov capability should
be handled by PCI core. I'm trying to understand
all the relevant code..
For your question, based on what I found from
the code currently, I guess the sriov capability
will be restored b...

bridge + SR-IOV guests with KVM
Hi,
I managed to get SR-IOV with an Intel I350 NIC to work.For this I
followed the documentation on this page:
https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Assignment_from_a_pool_of_SRIOV_VFs_in_a_libvirt_.3Cnetwork.3E_definition
But as I have more VMs then VF on the NIC I also have a bridge wich
serves the other guests. As I run Debian Buster as host I followed the
documentation here:
https://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Debian.2FUbuntu_Bridging
If I use only the SRIOV ever...

POOL of SRIOV networks with multiple PFs
...82599 chip that allows 4 PFs ( eth0..3) per VM. I am able to manually start VMs using the hostdev
definition for the four network connections, but I'd like to start using the pool approach. Ubuntu 12.04 libvirt 1.0.0
Following:
http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking#Assignment_from_a_pool_of_SRIOV_VFs_in_a_libvirt_.3Cnetwork.3E_definition
I can get a pool working with one network-
<network>
<name>passthrough_eth0</name>
<forward mode='hostdev' managed='yes'>
<pf dev='eth0'/>
</forward>
</network>
and I can get...

OK but the point is restore looks just like power up for device.

automatically detaching PCI host devices from guest for SRIOV usage.
Dear List ,
We are using intel 82599EB based SRIOV capable 10GbE cards
on the host machine.The VFs are being assigned to the guest
in pass through mode and are providing the network connectivity
as expected.
However when we shutdown the guest the connectivity does not
comes back via the VFs on the guest in next boot unless
the VFs are detached f...

I think VFs are managed by PCI core. Once they are
allocated, virtio driver doesn't have to care too
much about how to manage them. The proposal for the
spec is just to provide a feature bit based virtio
way for virtio drivers to know whether a virtio
device is SR-IOV capable (and virtio driv...

Adding a VLAN tag to a libvirt SR-IOV VF network using the "virsh net-update" command
...o you add a VLAN tag to a libvirt SR-IOV VF network usingthe "virsh net-update" command? I couldn't find the section to passto the "virsh net-update" command to add the VLAN tag.
I have the following libvirt network defined for a SR-IOV VF:

question about libvirt network Xml
Hi,
I’m an openstack developer trying to use
Assignment from a pool of SRIOV VFs in a libvirt <network> definition
from this link http://wiki.libvirt.org/page/Networking
My question is is it possible for nova (the openstack compute) to know which VF out of the pool will be allocated to a VM before it invokes libvirt to launch it?
Thanks In advance,
Robert

Could you please help to confirm if this is a kernel bug? Thank you very

You have two choices for the backup virtio interface:
1) it can be a macvtap device connected to the PF of the same SRIOV device.
2) it can be a standard tap device connected to a Linux host bridge
(created outside libvirt in the host system network config) that is
attached to the PF (or alternately one of the VFs that isn't being used
for VMs, or to another physical ethernet adapter on the host that is

SR-IOV: no traffic isolation between VFs with Broadcom 10Gbps cards
Hi all,
I'm testing on debian/unstable SR-IOV feature with Broadcom BCM57810
cards and KVM hypervisor:
Compiled against library: libvirt 1.2.1
Using library: libvirt 1.2.1
Using API: QEMU 1.2.1
Running hypervisor: QEMU 1.7.0
bnx2x
-> firmware 7.8.17
-> driver from kernel 3.12.7
8 VFs are created on the first PF. For each VF, a specific mac address
is set manually using "ip
