...ll I have compiled and running the latest samba (2.2.2) cause i need ldap authentication from samba. Things are working fine but when I browse the server from a windows client I just get the icons with no name of the shares displayed. Although I do get the share names if I try "smbclient -L srever". Also I do not get the share name when I use " net view \\server ". Since i know the share names in my smb.conf file , If i use " net use M: \\server\sharename " the command completes successfully and the share gets mounted. I have gone through the Browsing.txt and diagnos...

...ll "/path/to/batch.bat" >> "/path/to/logfile.log" Then all I get in the logfile is the list of files transferred etc. That is, all of the information about what worked. In the DOS screen, I get left with the errors (eg Permission Denied, or "rysnc cannot contact the srever" etc). These are the items I really want in my log file. ...And 2.0.3 seems cannot be a PDC for NTWS. So I tired to download and install a newer version of Samba (2.0.6 and CVS). After I install the newer version, I found that it still cannot be a PDC for NTWS (cannot found the PDC), also I found that the version of samba still 2.0.3!!!(smb.conf script : srever string=samba server %v) Thx a lots! I have centos 5.7 (server). I need to configure it for backup system, that means it have to back up or back up documents shall be posted or send to this server from various users (clients using windows machine and ubuntu).
