Debian Jessie AD DC w. BIND9 : DNS update fails for debian squeezy member server
Yes, it was/is an NT-4 style PDC with Samba 3.2.5 on lenny. I did a clean install of jessie and installed samba 4.1.17 from jessie repositories. Is there a better way? Strangely the domain join, shares and users did work before on the squeezy member against the Samba4 AD DC with security = domain and no keytab defined, nor created. The only thing that didn't work, was setting the dns record during 'net ads join -Uadministrator'. I'll probably go back to the old, ugly, overloaded smb.conf, so that I have the users workin...

Debian Jessie AD DC w. BIND9 : DNS update fails for debian squeezy member server
Hello Samba Crowd, finally had some more time to work on the problem today. I set up the Wheezy VM, installed Samba, Winbind, Krb5-user and did the domain join. With the configs from the wiki <https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_AD_Member_Server> I could join the domain and retrieve the users, they are shown with getent passwd. Problem is, the DNS update still does not work with

Conditional jump or move depends on uninitialised value
Hi, My Server runs on Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS 32 bits. Which Samba version?
...test 3.6 release made sense. I have to replicate the old server on the new one, and make sure there are no problems with the SIDs etc on all the existing PCs. Basically, the new server just has to take over, and work! I did test this a while back, and got a test migration to work with Debian Squeezy. I?ve not used Samba 4 before, and always had it in the back of my mind that it might not yet be as stable as 3, plus for now I don?t need AD. I thought it might be easier to just put the new server in with Samba 3, and then perhaps look at an upgrade-in-place to 4 if ever needed. My option...

If I try winbindd -S -F I receive: initialize_winbindd_cache: clearing cache and re-creating with version number 2 create_local_token failed: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER Is it possibly a rights issue? Some additional information: - the machine was on squeezy before and we did a dist-upgrade to wheezy - pam-auth-update lists kerberos and windows-nt/active directory authentication as possible auth methods. - windows machines can join the domain and communicate fine with the ad dc. Samba 4 slow write
Dear Samba users, here is an Ubuntu 14.04, with Samba 4 (4.1.6), and LDAP (slapd 2.4.31). The config came from a previous system (Debian Squeezy), which had been crashed (HW error - on this new machine, I've put Ubuntu). So, as I wrote, the smb.conf and LDAP database was copied from the backup from the old system - but it works as well. Only one thing what's very annoying. The Samba is "only" a fileserver, not AD. Users p...

Logistic regression and R
Hello everybody :-) I have some data that I want to model with a logistic regression, most of the independent variables are numeric and the only dependent is categorical, I was thinking that I could apply a logistic regression using glm but I wanted to deepen my knowledge of this so I tried to do some reading and found the "iris" dataset, now I would like to ask two things, first

Debian Jessie AD DC w. BIND9 : DNS update fails for debian squeezy member server
I'm sorry it got confusing, changed the topic and I'll try to explain. I am using Jessie on the DC. Server13 is a linux file server and domain member, it is on squeeze. If possible, I do not want to upgrade it. The problem here is, that it does not seem to generate a DNS record when joining the domain and, after setting up the new smb.conf, the users aren't passed on from winbind to
