SqueezeBox, a new Mongrel handler
SqueezeBox is a simple file system based routing framework for erubis templates. It aims for a couple of niceties as well: Instead of putting your logic inside your template, like you would with PHP, SqueezeBox recognizes a separate logic file to be called before it loads the template. This allows you room to load ActiveRecord models or do calculations. These logic files return to the webserver

Flac HiRes decoding problems
Hi folks. My first post over here. While working on a music server optimzation (which ususally goes hand in hand with running pretty low buffers on realtime streams) I figured that certain HiRez flacs were causing XRUNS/hickups on my Linux server platform. The interesting thing is to run into XRUNS even though the stream gets send to a Squeezebox Touch which got a 20s buffer on its receiving

Efficiency
Hi Gregory, GM> Flac decode is VERY fast: GM> http://web.inter.nl.net/users/hvdh/lossless/lossless.htm Thank you for the link. Although I switched to flac for other reasons, these data appear to support my switch, given the hardware limitations I have. As I mentioned, I use a 400 mhz laptop in my office, and at home a qnap ts-101 running slimserver software. While quite usable, neither

Ogg/Vorbis fenced out of Apple's airport airtunes
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 re all, a quick message to ask if anyone had the same experience trying to play Ogg/Vorbis encoded music via wireless airport connection (the new system Apple uses to playback on their speakers via wifi). i use pulse-audio to interact with A's proprietary system: works quite well, but still has some buffering glitches, so its more

king fm m3u streams
Hi, Thanks, that helps. What I really want however, is an MP3 stream that can play on a WI-FI mp3 player. I know the m3u streams, but they wont play. I can find the stream for the regular KING HD-1, but not for opera or evergreen. MP3 Tags in icecast?
Hello! Maybe this question has been asked many times before, but searching the archives of the last 2 years I did not find an answer. I have installed icecast2 and darkice on a PC running on Ubuntu 12.04. Streaming works fine on both other PCs, players and even Squeezebox Radio. There is only one problem: the players do not show the MP3-Tags of the songs played. Is this a property of the

Possible for Asterisk to output CLID to invoke 3rd party app?
Hi all, please forgive me relative lack of knowledge with Asterisk, but I've not played with PBX systems for a while and I'm just re-finding my feet. I've set up my first Asterisk server, I have it configured with a Digium X100P Analogue pots board, I have my Called ID working and everything is hunky dorey with the server itself. But. (and there's always a but) I want to pass

king fm m3u streams
M3U is just a playlist file, and can actually specify different types of streams: MP3, AAC, OGG, for example. The Logitech Squeezebox Product Family plays these streams nicely, although you will need to create an account on the Logitech Squeezebox site to add custom/favorite streams which are not in their Directory. This is no big deal though. -greg. ORBAN -----Original Message----- From: Bijan

king fm m3u streams
That's interesting, I didn't know m3u files could do that. Are they built up using xml? Compression of existing FLAC files
Hope you can help, I'm quite new to this, so... I got a Squeezebox 3 and started ripping with Easy CD-DA Pro to FLAC, and set compression to 0 in the ignorant belief that compression might degrade the file. Now I've got over a Tb of files that I plan on migrating to larger drives. In the process, I'd like to apply an appropriate level of compression. Is there a tool and

playback problems with oppo BDP-95
My friend somehow managed to get a BDP-95, even though the hardware isn't scheduled to ship until March. The problem is that the manual makes no mention of FLAC, at all, and only the web page claims to support the format. Playback of flac seems to work, but files from one online vendor work flawlessly while files from other online vendors have strange glitches that sound like a

Inexpensive Flac player for separates system?
I'm after the cheapest way to decode a flac stream with following criteria; - Transport from UPnP (DNLA) NAS using either WiFi or Cat5 networking - Toslink digital out for using existing HiFi DAC. - Low power consuption (eg just few Watts - it's just a decoder anyway). There seems a real lack of Flac players that are cheap and HiFi separates integratable like current-day CD players. All

Compression of existing FLAC files
Hello Karl, There is a good list of software on the following page: http://flac.sourceforge.net/links.html#software I have run FLAC frontend on windows XP. There is a tool called MacFLAC on OSX. Both of these are free. One of those should get you going. If you want to experiment with the command line program flac.exe it is pretty easy to figure out. Run it with flac.exe --help or flac.exe

Idea to possibly improve flac?
I might be able to look into this soon, I actually got my mother a squeezebox boom for xmas, but I have no experience with the device, other than initial set up and hearing it go. My choice of the word "useless" was deliberate to get folks rawled up, and it worked! :D It doesn't make it entirely useless, just unreliable and inconsistent. If they are using the code from the main flac
