SQLServer Timestamp parsing problem in sqlserver_adapter.rb
So, I''ve used Rails to tie into a legacy system which is on SQL Server
2000 with a required timestamp field, DBTimeStamp. The field is defined
in SQL Server as type timestamp, but when rails is pulling it in, it
appears it may be casting to a datetime format. So, when I try to read or
write to the field, it gives me a parsing error:

Selecting datetime values from SQL Server (year < 1970)
All,
Rails 1.1.6.
Any AR find() call that generates a SELECT * type query against a table
with a DATETIME column in SQL Server whose value occurs before 1970 will
fail, because of the coercion of SQL Server datetime types to Time
values in Ruby.
See sqlserver_adapter.rb line 490
(record[col] = record[col].to_time if record[col].is_a? DBI::Timestamp)
If I remove the coercion (just commenting

aaf batch_size limits indexing on mssql to 1000 records
hi!
after wondering why i can''t find alot of records i eventually found the
problem in the sqlserver_adapters implementation of "add_limit_offset!".
the problem is when using MSSQL with the sqlserver_adapter paging will
only work when at least one column is defined in ":order".
for example i was indexing a table with 2912 records, the generated sql
for the batches were these:

MS SQL query strangeness for ActiveRecord in Rails
Hi,
I am currently trying to move my rubyonrails app from Linux to Windows
server utilizing MS SQL instead of MySQL due to "business" reason. All
my listing screen utilize a drop down list in each column to allow user
to "filter" the listing based upon the value chosen from the drop down
list. In the controller, I used find() method but with customized
parameters such as

SQL Server via DBI/ODBC configuration
I have followed the cookbook on http://wiki.rubyonrails.org/database-support/ms-sql
but am having problems with the rails part. I can connect to the
database using sqsh so I think all the freetds plumbing is good. When
I try to connect to the db with a rake db:migrate or just using script/
console I get this error:
>> Client.find(:first)

Running unit tests on SQL Server
Hi everyone,
It''s been more than a month since I last fired up Ruby or ActiveRecord, so
imagine my surprise when, after getting the latest source and running the
unit tests for MySql, I was greeted with a screen full of errors.
I''ll come back to the MySql errors later. What follows is the output I get
when I run the tests for SQL server.
I installed ruby with the one-click

error with Dates in SQL Server
An application that run without flaw last week has been reported to
crash with an error that says that a conversion from char to datetime
has given a date outside range.
This very application runs OK today in production (fortunately :-),
and the difference in both SQL Servers is just that the one where the
exception has started to appear has Spanish conventions. I can''t give
