TUNGETIFF ioctl() failed - virtual machine can't start
Hi, I want to migrate from vmware to KVM. Therefore I have installed debian stable (lenny) and create two virtual machines (KVM). Both (XP as well as Vista) running fine. After upgrading to debian testing (sqeeze) both XP-guest as well as Vista-guest didn't start anymore. Both are failing during preparation, probably because of a network-problem. I will give XP as an example: cat

timeout after inactivity on mount.cifs
Hi, I'm trying to backup a directory on a Windows 2008 (fully updated) I'm running Debian testing. (kernel version: 4.9.6-3, mount.cifs version: 6.6) I'm basically mounting a share with mount -t cifs and tar the content of a directory. I didn't have problems with old debian (probably sqeeze). Now I occasionally get in dmesg: cifs vfs: error -32 sending data on socket to

no kernel events on domU creation/failed multicalls
(This is a resend of my earlier message which may still be awaiting moderator approval for size reasons. Please Cc me on replies.) Hi, I'm not sure this is the right forum for messages like this, please redirect me if not. Please also Cc me in either case. Last week I upgraded my Xen HA setup (two hosts) to sqeeze. The upgrade itself was smooth, thanks for the nice work! Also the

wxWindow 2.6.2 Released
More information here: ftp://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/2.6.2/changes-2.6.2.txt I am compiling now. There are only a sprinkling of new functions. Since we''re still not beta I see no reason not to upgrade to 2.6.2. I''ll try to get some patch files for the new functions (that we''ll actually use) sometime this weekend maybe. What''s everyone else working on?

Reason for no samba linux kernel driver
Hello Samba developers, First, thank you for your excellent work! I have a naive question, out of curiosity, why is there no samba server support in Linux kernel unlike the cifs client support? Wouldn't it be more easier to use if there is a samba server support in kernel and a corresponding user space demon to control it just like nfsd? Also, I think performance of a kernel space driver

Journal size, optimizing?
Can the devs comment on how journal size might affect performance? The default is 256 megabytes I believe? Would it be better to increase this? Does it matter on the total partition size, ie should i have more journal for the more disk space i have? How about number of nodes, does this matter? Do I need more or less journal space per node depending on how many nodes I have? I am not real

any opinions on debian vs. opensuse for Xen?
Hi Folks, I''ve been getting just a little fed up with the state of Xen on Debian Lenny - there are a couple of known bugs that lead to periodic kernel panics - but fixes haven''t made it into the Lenny distribution. I''m sort of waiting to see how things shake out with Debian Squeeze, when it becomes stable, but... I''ve been noticing that Suse (both the

Patches for VGA-Passthrough XEN 4.2 unstable
Hello, I have been working on VGA-passthrough in the last month. When Xen was at his version 3.5 there was a few patches to make this work for some graphic cards using the patches developed by Han Weidong and posted here (http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2009-08/msg01176.html) and the same patches posted file by file are here
