when dom0 loadavg above 1, domUs not available
I have a xen 3.0.2 running on a 733 MHz server, 1 GB RAM. It has two domU domains. dom0 has 512 MB, domUs have 256 MB each. Whenever load average on dom0 is above 1-2 (for example, compressing 200 MB file), I can''t reach any domU domain. Ping replies to domUs take very long time (it''s on LAN), and there are packet losses: 64 bytes from 192.168.11.61: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64

Variable scoping and templates
Hi, We''ve been using puppet for a couple of months now (started with a new deployment for a customer, and it''s slowly taking over their whole environment). We''re gradually getting our heads around it, but there are some things that we''re hoping other people have encountered and solved before us. First one is to do with scoping... We have defined some

Inter-host dependencies
The other question that''s been bugging me that I''m hoping someone has already thought about is how to describe inter-host dependencies. We have a few examples of situations where we need puppet to be aware of the state of other machines in the cluster: 1) Load balanced servers - it would be nice if we could write rules that will only allow puppet to change the state of one

trying to prioritize voip traffick
I am using a server with asterisk and I am trying to prioritize voip traffick -- I am a newbie at this traffic shaping, so please bear with me. I used the script below and what happens is thatall traffic in the bulk class stops after a couple of minutes. Also, should I include the ports for rtp in the filter statements with the ports 5061 and 4569? Note I have a fairly big pipe -- supposed to

Samba as an Open Source case study
At http://www.opensource.org there is a quite powerful evolving argument putting the case of Open Source software (thanks, Netscape :) As part of this there is the beginnings of a collection of case studies. They are obviously looking for high-quality stories along the lines of "I had this brand-name software and I replaced it with free XYZ and I've never looked back." If you are a
