...on I shut it down. The runaway SMBD process ended, having 80 to 90% CPU free on the file and print server. Immediately upon booting these XP PRO workstations (not all of them), the SMBD process goes crazy again. I've now run into two different PCs that do this to our server. If I kill the SPOOLSV.EXE service in the XP task manager, the runaway SMBD process ends immediately. The downfall is that XP PRO machine then can't print. I had that happen to me on w2k. Your spooler service is stopped. I had an invalid print driver entry in Samba and when I printed to any of the printers on my Samba server it would cause the service to stop. After installing print drivers to the my RH7.3 Samba 2.2.5 box, I have noticed the print subsystem shuts down, after receiving a spoolsv.dll error message (sorry, didn't write it down). This has happened on 3 different win2k machines, sp2. Once I reboot everything is fine. Ideas?

I try to use an ebook reader with wine! It needs to activate itself, so I can open it. Everything was working fine, then after an update, it no longer works. I am using Fedora 7. I am unsure of the Wine version. Any of the Wine apps cause the screen to blank when I start them. I can press alt+f4 to close and get my Fedora desktop back. How do I get my Wine apps to work again? --Tony

When I try to print anything, explorer.exe dies. Sometimes dies spoolsv.exe, or sometimes all the system locks (it may be because explorer do not restart). Anybody had any luck getting MS flight simulator running? I'm running Ubuntu 7.10 on Intel and got to missing the Winders flight simulators after someone just gave me FS-X. It starts to install fine until it asks for the second DVD, which it never sees. When I click the Retry button, it keeps coming back with "Insert Disk #2." Any ideas?
