what Prof. Ripley seems to be demanding since he claims that he wants
the program to run on his computer which it apparently does not do at

the open source community. I have no idea what the community at large
feels about this.
What follows is Hans Skaug's post with Prof. Ripley's reply.

Which encoder ver to use?
Hello,
I'm seeking advice here as I'm intend in the not to distant future to start encoding my CD collection, and I'm not sure what to use. Do I use the still current v1.0, or am I better off using a newer build? Also, I've started to notice mention of versions 1.0.1 and 1.1 in these mailing lists. Are these worth holding out for? I'll probably encode at about Q7, and am using

[LLVMdev] VC++: Cannot open include file: 'windows.h': No suchfile or directory
Yes, it should find windows.h with the default configuration. But you
have to be suspicious of beta code that Microsoft gives out for free.
It might just be very buggy, or it might be deliberately crippled.
Considering the price tag on Visual Studio, it's one or the other (and
probably both).
Out of curiosity, did it accept the solution and project files as is, or
did it want to

Final Post/Lack of support
...s has to have consequences.
This announcement of ogg-prak, which is meant to try to solve the matter
(after the damage is done and there is a huge userbase using *.ogm for
video+audio content), just means we did wrong and renders all our files
useless.
I feel betrayed by Emmet, another official spokesman of Xiph, who said
to support ogm, who now happily announces that prak solves all issues
(and thus - once more from xiph - shows us we're wrong).
As much as I like *.ogg and vorbis as superior audio codec, I can't
ignore that I was told to "just leave". This means for me that o...

Community Group for Markdown Standardization
FYI,
There was an interest from a few people to create a formalization of Markdown as it is currently implemented.
A W3C Community Group has been created for moving forward and exploring the idea and create a spec if necessary.
A W3C Community Group [1] is a platform for discussing, publishing about a topic. You just need a free public W3C account [2]
The community markdown group [3] has

For a month ago I was at a .NET seminar hosted by MS and the spokesman said,
you should be cautios with beta software. They don't delibrately cribble the
software, but sometimes, depending on the scope of the build, known errors
e.t.c., they disable known buggy or other functionality.
And I did take it that way.

Vonage Linksys Router - Life after Vonage
I setup a vonage account last year, and cancelled it last night when I
put my asterisk box together and signed up for a Broadvoice account to
use with it.
Now I would like to use my Linksys router as an MTA, but realize it is
still programmed with all of vonage's proprietary information and I do
not know how to clear it. I understand that just pushing the reset
button will not do it.

UK Encryption ban legislation {from: [comp.risks] RISKS DIGEST 18.95}
...l give the Secretary of State discretion
to determine appropriate licence conditions.
The licence conditions imply that only large organisations will be able to
get licences: small organisations will have to use large ones to manage
their keys (this was the policy outlined last June by a DTI spokesman). The
main licence condition is of course that keys must be escrowed, and
delivered on demand to a central repository within one hour. The mere
delivery of decrypted plaintext is not acceptable except perhaps from TTPs
overseas under international agreements.
The effect of all this appears to be:...
