Demote a working DC fails with uncaught exception
...lynx,DC=com
Removing Sysvol reference: CN=DC3,CN=Topology,CN=Domain System Volume,CN=DFSR-GlobalSettings,CN=System,DC=microlynx,DC=com
Demote successful
root at dc3:~#
but it leaves the demoted DC's DNS entries in place. So there's still something missing in the demote process.
Thanks,

Demote a working DC fails with uncaught exception
...Replication was working OK before the demotion attempt as was SysVol replication
and samba-tool ntacl sysvolcheck produced no errors. All 7 FSMO roles reside on dc1.
Was able to remove the DC by using the --remove-other-dead-server option.
Any ideas how to troubleshoot this problem?

Maybe worth looking at Robocopy's /fft option - that may help?

Problems with Member server in a Samba AD Domain
...sers/krbtgt:/bin/bash
MICROLYNX\guest:*:3000007:100::/srv/users/guest:/bin/bash
So why are these additional users not being recognised by the member
server (debian-m1)? Also the template homedir & shell lines in the
smb.conf seem to be ignored (by debian-m1).
Any help would be appreciated,

File timestamp issue
...t now that works is to omit S from /COPY:DATSO, ie skip
security descriptors. Makes no sense but that's what I have found out after
dozens of tests.
I will recreate the shares and be careful to follow Rowlands advise on
setting the correct rights on the share.

Adding a Windows Server 2008 as a DC to the domain fails
...g a "unsupported" ms 2008 server as dc... wil cost you ms licenses..
I suggest if possible, add a new samba AD DC.
Add the windows server as member, and you dont have to lower the domain level.

Apologies for answering my own post - found that python3-dnspython needed to

Sorry for the noise!
