Icecast start up script for icecast
...should read 'man chown', it looks to me as though the first command you got from Fu Kite may have been a typo, unless there is something i don't know about putting a '.' between the user and group name in chown. i think what you wanted to do was (notice the colon): $ chown -R sphynx:sphynx /var/log/icecast also showing us an: $ ls -al /var/log/icecast would be very helpful. Icecast start up script for icecast
my guess would be that the sphynx user does not have permission to write to the folder /var/log/icecast try running the following command: chown sphynx.sphynx /var/log/icecast then as root you can execute: icecast -c /usr/local/etc/icecast.xml The reason you can run the icecast command as root is because when you set <chroo...

Icecast start up script for icecast
Ok well you state yourself that you are getting an XML error when you try to start icecast... Have you attempted to validate your XML? >>*Fatal: error parsing config file [icecast/usr/local/etc/icecast.xml]* * * *What command are you running to start it? i would assume it's "icecast -c /icecast/usr/local/etc/icecast.xml" which would mean to me that somehow you have a top level

Some Basic Reading
...hone turned on when I'm in the studio. The idea is, a caller is greeted with my message, then placed on hold while * makes some calls to try to track me down (a la wildfire). I'll probably end up with 2 IP Phones in house connected to the PBX. I would also like to incorporate voice rec. (Sphynx?) into my system. If anyone has any links that might help me, please pass them along. (All I'm really aware of is The Handbook and "make progdocs".. If that's all there is, then I guess I'm ready to get my hands dirty) Thanks! .::kRis

Speech Recognition and Asterisk
All; Since I have interest in providing the capability for callers to speak the department, person or number they wish to call, as well as other IVR scenarios, I have been reviewing much of this lists email archives and searching the web for open source voice recognition that will work with the Asterisk PBX. What I am trying to determine, is what will it take to get it working on Asterisk? How

Hi, I am need of "voice to text" converter for one of my project. I need to use it on Linux OS. I got "text2wave" converter but didnt find any "wave2text" equivalent. Then I saw "speexenc" and "speexdec" on linux. It basically does encoding and decoding the the WAV file. Thus I wanted to know if I can use these utilities to convert a WAV file

...r transmission over network (or for storage). Specifically, it's called speex because it is tailored to work well at encoding speech at small bitrates. Speex does not do speech recognition or text to speech. You may wish to look at CMU's speech page: http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/ (look at Sphynx). And I'll tell you - It is much more difficult (and processor intensive) to to speech recognition than it is to to speech synthesis (though both are quite difficult). ~Keith Kyzivat On 10/26/07, Pintu Agarwal <pintu.agarwal@sasken.com> wrote: Hi, I am need of "voice to te...

ferret success stories?
Hi all, there was a recent thread[1] on rails-deploy about Ferret in which a lot of people complained of problems using it in production. I''ve been using Ferret (with DRb) for many months now with no serious issues. I''m assuming the posters know what they''re doing so I''m guessing they''re just using Ferret in higher-scale environments than me. I

replacement for acts_as_ferret and ferret
I have been working on getting a Rails 2.1.0 app upgraded and am investigating ferret issues. Is Thinking Sphynx considered an alternative to the full search functionality of acts_as_ferret or is there another gem I should be looking at? I need something that works on Rails 2.3.11 and Rails 3.0. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Talk" grou...
