Is Java insecure ?
Hi Everyone
I am considering learning Java. There have been well publicized Java
security incidents recently that make me not want to learn it.
However it's in Centos and I trust Centos, are the concerns in the media
blown out of proportion ?

How does such long term support work?
I've had nothing but trouble with BSD/Linux over the past year or so.
I've been on Centos 6.4 for about a half day now and I am loving it.
I am just wondering though, how does a 7 year support cycle work?
I see that there is libreoffice which is kinda new. Is this because open
office is under oracle's influence?
I am on gnome 2 right now, will I wake up one day in the next 7 years

Centos media repo
I can't seem to check off the centos media repo from within the
add/remove application.
Is there a way to do this?
I tried to invoke gpk-application from root but it didn't work.
Thanks-Patrick

I am using a solid state drive and it's very possible that it just ended
up with a failed sector. It's my understanding that these drives are
fast but less robust then rotary based ones.

reputable sites to download RPMs
Hi Everyone
I would like to use kicad for circuit design.
It does not appear to be in the repos. I have built all the other
software that I need and not included in the repos from source but I
have struggled with kicad.
There looks to be lots of places on the net that I can download RPMs not
in the repos from but I don't know which ones run honest operations.
Could anyone point me to a

anyone running both GTK 2 and 3 ?
I really love Centos.
I loaded Ubuntu last night on another drive and booted from that because
I want to develop an application to run on a tablet and GTK 3 seems like
a better route for a touch screen device.
However I really hated Ubuntu and I was so happy to get back to Centos
on my first drive. I want to use GTK 2.0 / Gnome 2 for my daily desktop.
I would however like to develop using
