Would like to add this to example for plotmath. Can you help?
Greetings: I would like comments on this example and after fixing it up, I need help from someone who has access to insert this in R's help page for plotmath. I uploaded a drawing http://pj.freefaculty.org/R/Normal-2009.pdf that is created by the following code http://pj.freefaculty.org/R/Normal1_2009_plotmathExample.R This will be a good addition to the plotmath help page/example.

I want to shade the area under the curve of the standard normal density. Specifically color to the left of -2 and on. How might i go about doing this? AJAX effects not smooth on Rails
I''ve been playing around with AJAX effects using ActionView::Helpers::ScriptaculousHelper. When I implement these ''freehand'' on a regular html page the Scriptaculous effects are smooth. However when I use them rails methods they are not. For example Appear, Grow and Slideup all blink the text at the start. As in the content appears for a split second, then

Plotmath with values?
I hope to use the plotmath facility to print titles that mix math and values of R variables. The help for "plotmath" has an example, which after repeated reading, I find baffling. Likewise, I have read the help file for "substitute" (wqhich seems to be needed) without ever understanding what it does, other than being used in some magic incantations. I would like to do

A somewhat off the line question to a log normal distribution
Sigfried, I am not a statistician, but I have learned that according to the Central Limit Theorem (CLT) sums of random variables, regardless of their form, will tend to be normally distributed. CLT does not require the variables in the sum to come from the same underlying distribution. Ciao, Hannu Kahra Progetti Speciali Monte Paschi Asset Management SGR S.p.A. Via San Vittore, 37 IT-20123

stuck process continues under strace
Hello, I have a few VPSes with centos5 on which I expirience a strange phenomen: Every now and then a random network communicating process (lynx, sendmail, httpd, ...) starts eating 100% of cpu while doing nothing. That slows down a VPS a lot. When examined with lsof, all of such processes have at least one tcp connection in close_wait state. Touching such process with strace -p makes it spring

Streaming Audio Player for SBC environment?
I have been seeking streaming audio playing capability in a single board computer environment. I have not yet found any player hardware that exists for this environment. ie. a player card in a PMC format or other hardware that can be used in a VME bus application. Is anyone aware of any such hardware? Thanks. Jim <p>--------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Free Pop-Up Blocker -

[LLVMdev] LLVM Newb: Getting started
Hello, Wolfgang. > I did not manage to make llvm-gcc create __main. Code for static construction & destruction is highly platform dependent. Usually it's placed in crt.o binary, which is compiled during main gcc build cycle. For example, for Linux we should only output some code in specialy named sections and this code will automatically called by system loader. As opposite, for

CentOS 5 Boot Issues
Hi all, I am still having problems with my desktop system. Having updated it from 4 to 5, I now have problems with the logs. Neither boot.log nor dmesg has any data post the update. syslog appears to be normal in that it starts when it should but does not show any errors. It looks like whatever is supposed to write to the logs during initial boot is not doing so, but I am not sure where to look

Question about blocksizes
Hi, can someone explain whats the meaning of the two blocksizes in the first header of Vorbis, please? So far I assumed that they meant that 2^b0 and 2^b1 were the only two blocksizes used during the whole encode, but something makes me believe they are not: if b0 and b1 are 0xb8 respectively (that I interpeted as 2^11 = 2048 and 2^8 = 256) I observe 3 different deltas between each couple of

streaming non-MP3 formats
Hi, I'm working on a project to add more audio formats other than MP3 and Ogg that can be streamed by Icecast. Yes, I mean streaming those formats, not converting them to MP3. These formats I'd like to add include PCM (.wav) and ADPCM (.adp). Although they are much less advanced codecs compared to MP3, they have a valid market for low-power clients. I've been working on the source

The local Tinc gateway will ultimately (I believe, Guus can speak on this with more authority than I can) perform the job of proxy ARP to get the traffic to the destination on the other side of the VPN.
