Problems building host keys on some SPARCs
...build_host_key
/usr/local/bin/ssh-keygen: syntax error at line 1: `(' unexpected
These same invokations work fine on most of our other systems.
Info on the system above:
root at sylow:/source/USR_LOCAL/OFFICIAL/OPENSSH/ssh_client# uname -a
SunOS sylow 5.7 Generic_106541-07 sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-20
The only thing different I can see here is that the working systems
are Ultra class machines, and the non-working ones are SparcStations.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

free sun boxes
I have 4 sparc based sun boxes I am about to pay money so I can
get rid of them. They are running older versions of Solaris.
You should be able to load Solaris 10 and play around with *
on them.
Time to clean the office:
3 Ultra 5
1 Sparcstation 5
I also have a box full of Sun keyboards and mice.
Contact me offline if you want them.
I've had many good years of development on them and it kills
me to just toss them, but the office is just too damn cluttered.
thanks, bk...

Problem compiling 2.2.5
I'm trying to upgrade a very old sparcstation running Solaris 8 which
is running dovecot 1.x for few users. All I have for the task is good
old gcc 2.95.2. The poor sod complains because it can't compute the
sizeof(unsigned char prefix_text[]) at line 13 of log-error-buffer.c.
Can I help it by - say - putting a constant between the '[]...

We can not let it die and I volunteer to keep the Sparc alive!
My SPARCstation pizzaboxes can be ready for action in a day or two.

anyone have any idea of what could cause this? I've gotten the same error on

Virus checker gets error "Network Name was deleted" ?
...rror, and the only adverse effect is to halt the virus scan.
There is no record of any event in the Samba logs, although debug
level is only 0. I have been unable to convince the people
concerned to turn this up.
The network is running a non-standard subnet mask - 20/12 bit split.
Server is a Sun Sparcstation running Solaris 2.5.1 - with all
recommended patches.
The virus checking software is Inoculan v4.00 - though I'm not
convinced this is the problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks...

rl_callback_read_char error on Solaris 7
This question is about compiling R-1.6.2 from source on a
Sparcstation-20 machine running Solaris 7, gcc-2.95.3 and
readline-4.2 (both gcc and readline from sunfreeware.com).
I searched the r-help archive and the FAQ. The errors seem to be
related to the binary readline libraries, and I have
/usr/local/lib/libreadline.a,libreadline.so@, and
libreadline.so.4....

Hello,
I am running solaris 7 on a sparcstation 5. We want to test out the pdc
capablities on this test machine before we deploy this on our network. I
installed gcc version 3.2.2. untared the source and did
./configure ; make
everything seemed to go fine, but the source dir is over a gig in size

f2c
I have a problem with my dynamically loaded code in R not finding pow_ii, which
for some time I thought was because library f2c is not on my Sparcstation.
However, I have now been experiencing the same problem in Linux, with all the
proper libraries in place.
My incomplete understanding of elf and shared libraries does not help, but when
compiling a complete program I usually muddle through. However, in the case of
dynamically loading code into R,...

currently idle because no builders have been scheduled to use them:

problems, but I have yet to find a streaming tools as effective as WinAMP
on a windows box.
I don't need the graphics and don't want to listen to the source on the

develop a playlist from my 3Gig mp3 collection and feed a stream to the
icecast server.
I've looked through http://www.icecast.org/index.html, in the past, but
doesn't appear to be updated that often. (Last news was posted Tuesday,

than connecting to my 486-DX 50. The point where it waits is just after

R-beta: netscape/R interaction
...increases the contrast in my mailer windows slightly.
(netscape does block launching of Solaris imaging and help tools. I have
e-mailed netscape through every generation about this problem but with no
response. our systems people tell me that this kind of problem with netscape
exists on all of our SPARCstations and with some software on our MS-Windows
machines leading to their recommendation of a different browser.I have tried a
different browser (w3) but that alternative is significantly slower.)
Any suggestions?

ices configure script
Hi,
I'm having difficulty getting ices 0.2.2 to see my lame install and my
perl install. The lame libraries (v3.91) are installed in:
/usr/local/lib/ with the header file at: /usr/local/include/lame/lame.h,
but when I run:
./configure --with-lame --with-lame-includes=/usr/local/include/lame/
--with-lame-libraries=/usr/local/
it says it can't find the lame libraries. ldconfig seems
