my spammer list
...ce people on here and other forums I have pretty much
finalized my whole mail system on centos 6.x.
With all the checks, greylisting, dev/null of any 8+ spam level SA, I
still get a few mails.
It seems like everytime I enable a new protectant, the mail stops
spamming for a few hours...then the spammers decide I am worthy of using
better methods against me..and more come. LOL.
I am down to just 10-15 a day.
Anything that gets through all that I set up now goes to a spammers list
that I add to the access file of postfix.

VOIP Spam
Hi,
Some people have suggested maintaining black lists and
white lists to avoid spammers and allow legitimate
callers into the network. However, the problem with
this method is that the spammer's IP address might
change due to DHCP. Today a spammer might get
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd and lets say that I put this address
in my blacklist. To my annoyance, tomorrow a
legitimate caller might get...

nut mailing-list user by spammers
Hi,
FYI, I started receiving spam to the email address I use only for this
mailing-list, about one week after I posted a couple messages onto it.
So the nut mailing-list is definitely used by spammers for email addresses
harvesting :-(

Hacked
I asked the moderators about it. This is the reply
"Other moderators have looked into this a bit and may be able to shed more
light on it. This is a "new" tactic where the spammers appear to reply to
the r-help post. They are not, however, going through the r-help server.
It also seems that this does not happen to everyone.
I am not sure how you can automatically block the spammers.
Sorry I cannot be of more help."

rel=nofollow or akismet
...but wanted to get your opinion about it. Has
anyone used it? Is it as good as they want us to believe.
Now I propose an alternative solution -
What if I put "rel-nofollow" in all links that are submitted via comments, and
say I will do so right next to the comment form. Thus telling spammers, "you
are welcome to post spam, but it will not help your cause." Will it
discourage spammers. What do you think?
I have used the same solution on my webalizer info page
(http://en.shunya.in/webalizer/index.html), which is public. I has started
getting "referral spam", and...

Hacked
I got some spam emails after my last post to the list, and the emails
did not seem to go through r-help. The spammers may be subscribed to
the r-help, or they get the poster emails from some of the web copies
of this list (nabble or similar).

Is Enum safe from spammers?
Just been contacted by a UK Enum registrar looking for ITSPs to become
resellers of their Enum registration systems ...
Is anyone using Enum?
Does anyone (other than cynical old me) think that Enum is a spammers best
friend?
Has anyone received a spam VoIP call yet? (ie. one placed directly over
the Internet aimed at a SIP URI to a PBX which allows anonymous incoming
calls?)
I can see that Enum is good to provide another way round the PSTN, but at
the same time, I'm just not convinced...
What do...

[fdo] Time to kill the fontconfig wiki?
Looking at http://www.fontconfig.org/wiki/TitleIndex I see it's around
99.9% pure spam. Other than the front page, virtually everything else
is the moin-moin boilerplate or the hundreds of pages of spam. Even the
Recent Changes & Find Page links have been overwritten by spammers hundreds
of times, with the spammers fighting each other to crap on it most recently.
(I restored them both this week, but expect that to not last long.)
Would fontconfig be better served by a static web page? (Maybe even one
with, dare I say it, nice fonts?) Or should the wiki just be purged a...

Spammers attempting SASL Auth
Hi
This is a new one on me - I've never seen spammers attempt to use to SASL Auth to inject spam. None of the users they are trying (newsletter, dummy, test, etc.) exist, but what worries me is the illegal chars error - is this a known vulnerability in dovecot they are trying to exploit? I'm running 1:1.2.15-7 installed from apt-get..

was also nuked. I've restored the best I could using google cache, but
still missing some information.
Who is an admin on http://www.voip-info.org/ and can fix it?

OT Spammer Mark Kabore on this list
Hi folks,
A spammer is getting email addresses from the mailing list and sending people an email saying he needs help. This is the classic advance free fraud.
This is what he says in broken english - "I need your urgently assistance in transferring the sum of $39.5)million to your account. This fund belongs to our decease costumer who died along with his Family in air crash. Contacts me for

Spammer radhi
This happened two or three weeks ago and it's happening again.
Spammers are using Nabble to attack R-Help. The psts are signed radhi
and the posts' titles are taken from previous posts and therefore seem
authentic but all messages end with "click here". I suggest you don't.
And don't rply to this "radhi"
And again on a weekend.

Don't confuse spammers and spoofers. This is a critical distinction.
Both are commonly handled by "spam" filters. Not all spoofers are
spammers (mailing list traffic; people who try to send through a lo...

Dovecot LDA error - Invalid -f parameter: Invalid character in path
Hi list.
I'm using dovecot as postfix's LDA. The version is 2.3.6.
Last week some spammer set the envelope's FROM to "foo at bar@domain.com"
(with two @). While trying to deliver (as this one didn't hit the
spamassassin's score), dovecot said the following:
Jun 21 02:35:58 mymailserver postfix/pipe[29736]: ADA268195E:

[Fwd: Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender]
Dear list admin,
I'm really fed up with being treated regularly as a spammer and having
to unsubscribe every week from the spammer blacklist on the online form.

Spammer direct replying to those posting on the users list
...apparently have a spam bot subscribed to the list and replying
*directly* to anyone who posts on the list.
The E-mails, generally use the name Alyssa or a Katie in the mail and
have images attached. They come from a variety of addresses that so
far don't appear subscribed to the list. However spammers don't
typically subscribe to lists at the addresses they send from or appear
to send from.
This is just a notice that we are working on it and doing what we can.
