[info] Spamcop listing
Smtp1.song.fi and smtp2.song.fi, our list servers, seem to have gotten listed in the bl.spamcop.net RBL. Spamcop listings are temporary and will time out, and because of occasional major false positives (or perhaps collateral damage?) like this I don't use it to reject mail. Anyone who IS using Spamcop to reject mail has missed much of today's list traffic. -- mail to this ad...

SPAM on List...
...ir other customers, they can find another ISP. Many e-mail servers are now using DNS based blocking list. They are blocking open-relays, open-proxies, Known Dialup ranges, and address blocks that have sent a high volume of spam. The SAMBA-TECHNICAL list reported that they have gone to the bl.spamcop.net blocking list, and it has been relatively spam free since then. The bl.spamcop.net is an aggressive blocking list with a quick trigger. And there are spamcop members on that list that send feeback to spamcop that if a spammer shows up, only one or two spams will show up from that source....

Administrivia: Listing mail.mindrot.org in spamcop
Someone on this mailing list has been reporting spam emails forwarded by the mailing list to spamcop. This has resulted in several listings of my mail server in their database of spam relays and a significant amount of inconvenience for myself and the other users of the mail relay. You have all been warned in the list welcome message that this is an open list and that the occasional spam gets thr...

Spamcop abuse reports for openssh-unix-dev messages
Would the person(s) who is reporting the occasional spam messages relayed through this list to Spamcop please refrain from doing so, or unsubscribe? You were warned that the list is open when you subscribed *and* that a small amount of spam would make it through as a result. As a result of this: my friend, who has generously dontated the use of a co-located server to act as a relay for this list,...

Spam to this list
Hi, I'm not sure what the policy of this list is and I bet everyone has a spam filter, so nobody might have noticed, but we got spammed. Can anyone send mail to the list or do you have to subscribe first ? -- dag wieers, dag@wieers.com, http://dag.wieers.com/ -- [all I want is a warm bed and a kind word and unlimited power]

[OT] Reporting Spam
All of you on this list are familiar with how DNS works. You probably use spam blocking lists (SBL) for your email servers? In case someone is interested in building accurate SBL, Spamcop is a service that allows you to easily report spam by sending in the headers. It can be automated by procmail or whatever as well. Spamcop does a deep analysis of the headers of a message and totally ignores what address it may be spoofing. It's very accurate and send out (mostly ignored, but o...

Discussion: Spam on R-help
[re-sending this one since it apparently didn't get through yesterday] Hi Folks, I just had a look at the r-help archive for the still-young month of August, and happened to notice that out of 49 postings there, 20 were assorted spam of all-too-familiar types. I'm wondering (discussion point) whether this might suggest that the list should adopt a more restrictive policy. Apparently, as
