Hosts files
Hi, I have put entries into the "hosts" file for all the machines which need to connect to our Samba server. Everything seems to be working correctly but I'm curious.... can anyone tell me what the other files "hosts.deny" and "hosts.allow" are for. Thanks Mike

Question.
For someone that wants to begin securing his or her network. What would be the starting point ? I guess in sort of a check list format. I mean as of now Im not administering a network. But in the old company I used to work for. Security was a big problem there were no polices in place. And in what ways can one reduce the amount of work it take to keep up with securing and monitoring a diversed

Tripwire mess..
...the array with *pcin>127 2. pcin is declared as pointer to char, which caused a negative offset for chars in range above 127. (and which actually caused coredump in this case) bellow is the patch to tripwire 1.2 (as it is on coast.cs.purdue.edu, and ftp.redhat.com sites), and message from Gene Spafford which I received for responce to my message.
