Of course, the one that works is

but I don't know how long jj is apriori so this won't do.

Anyone got any better ideas?
What is the R rationale for treating a[1,] so differently from a[1:2,] ?

Axis/Ticks/Scale
Dear All,
Apologies for this simple question and thanks in advance for any help given.
Suppose I wanted to plot 1 million observations and produce the command
plot(rnorm(1000000))
The labels of the xaxis are 0, e+00 2 e+05 etc. These are clearly not very
attractive (The plots are for a PhD. thesis).
I would like the axes to be 0,2,4,6,8,10 with a *10^5 on the right hand
side.
Is there a

Visualizing complex analytic functions using domain coloring
Hi
has anyone coded up domain colouring for visualizing complex analytic
functions
(such as elliptic functions)?
[
the idea is to depict a complex function f(z) using a filled.contour()
variant
in which the hue is given by Arg(f(z)), and the saturation by Mod(f(z)).

3d scatter plot with drop line
This is a follow up to my question from yesterday. I want to do in R
what is called a "3d scatter plot with drop lines" in S-PLUS.
Basically, it's a 3dscatterplot with lines connecting the x-y grid to
the z points.
The lines give a better perspective on the shape of the data surface.
How to?

Status.xsl not displaying everything
Hi guys,
I've got the following set up:
- Linux SuSE 8.2
- Running: Icecast2
- Source Client: Ices0.3
- Stream Client: Winamp 5.0 in Windows XP
The following is happening:
- I've got Ices0.3 streaming MP3's with correct ID3-tags to the
Icecast-server
- Suppose the stream name is "Ovide's Radio"
- In the status.xsl page of Icecast2, I only see info about: mountpount,

extracting rows of a dataframe
Hi
look at the following session, in which I have a dataframe,
and I want to extract the second row, without the first column.
Everything works as expected until the last line, where I set
the names of x to NULL, and get a non-desired object (I
want c(4,3).).
Three questions:
(1) why is as.vector(a[2,-1]) not a vector?
(2) How come setting names to NULL gives me bad weirdness?
(3) Can I

libshout: Streaming MPEG Audio Layer 2
Hi,
I have been trying to stream MPEG Audio Layer 2 using libshout in my
dvbshout program:
http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/~njh/dvbshout/
However I have been using the shout_send_raw() API call because the
MPEG audio header parser rejects audio that isn't Layer 3. Streaming
layer 2 works in exactly the same way as Layer 3 and without any
problems.
Would it be possible to get src/mp3.c changed so that...
