net rpc rights list 'accounts' works, kinda, sorta?
...g sans "tdb" noise.
But if I do it a second time, it just works and returns 0.
Looking at the TCP dump I see that in the failure case I get a
"Trans Response, FID: 0x8003, Error: STATUS_PIPE_BROKEN"
(Wireshark output from the PCAP dump)
Anyone have a clue on why this kinda, sorta works?
The PDC is running 2003 SP2.
Searching the list yielded very little fruit.

sorta-newbie: installing 2.2.6 rpm with --nodeps on RedHat 7.2 ?
I have samba (server-only) running on a server with a stock RedHat 7.2 'server' install and am trying to upgrade Samba to 2.2.6-1.i386. I get the following dependency failures when trying to "rpm -ivh samba-2.2.6-1.i386.rpm":
libncurses.so.4 is needed by samba-2.2.6-1
libreadline.so.3 is needed by samba-2.2.6-1

OT Sorta: Strouhal Numbers, Unladen Swallows and Monthy Python....
Greetings all,
Every now and then, as we engage in serious discourse, it seems
appropriate to throw something into the mix that might digress and
brighten the day.
So, what is a Strouhal Number?
"For an animal or insect in flight, the Strouhal number is determined by
the frequency (f) of wing strokes, multiplied by the amplitude (A) of
the wing, divided by the animal?s forward speed (U)

Samba 1.9.18 on Unixware 2.1.2, Makefile problem (& solution, sorta)
Hello Samba gurus: I apologize if I'm not following some established
protocol, I'm pretty new to samba and to this list. I just tried
compiling samba 1.9.18 on UnixWare 2.1.2 and ran into a problem with
UnixWare's /usr/ccs/bin/cc: it doesn't deal with the "-o" option in
combination with the "-c" option well at all. It either ignores the
"-o" or

sorta OT: Bounty for Click to Call plugin for IE
I'm in process of transitioning a number of offices to a hosted virtual
pbx from Junction Networks. It's a combination of OpenSER and Asterisk.
They have a nice click-to-call extension for Firefox, but I need the
equivalent for IE so that it can work with our CRM system. Junction
told me that they have a bounty on offer for this if someone's
interested in doing the work.
Would the

Rotary phones? (No, I'm serious)
Will the FXS cards that work with asterisk handle rotary? Are there any
channel banks that can convert rotary to touch tone (like some sorta
bridge)?
The goal is to be able to log input from rotary phones. Full PBX
functionality would be nice but...
(It's for a project, not for serious production).

[Sorta OT] Eicon DIVA with asterisk@home
Hi;
I've got an AAH installation where a customer wants to install an active
Eicon DIVA BRI card. AAH is built on Centos 3.5 which is currently at
kernel 2.4.21.37. Support for Eicon active cards is built-in.
I've debugged and run the A@H install-Eicondiva script but when I try to
run divactrl load -c 1 -f ETSI -Debug I get a response :
A: can't get card type for DIVA adapter

Newbie Question: Type of card
Hi, I am sorta a newbie to the asterisk community at least in the realm of
hardware types. I was wondering, what type of card is used to allow asterisk,
on a slackware installation to talk to a standard phone line so that asterisk
can call out?

RJS and layouts
Hi all,
I''ve been using RJS more and more for my app and I have sorta run into a
possible issue. My app has different user roles that require different
layouts. So far, this has worked fine, but now that I''m using rjs more
and more I''m finding that the two don''t really work together since I
have to rails not to use a layout upon control...

Playing MP3s...
For no reason other than it would be cool, I'd like to be able to dial an
extension and have it play a random MP3. Since, however, MP3s are
kinda-sorta weird due to patents, I'm not sure what the right approach for
this is. Any pointers on how to go about this?
Thanks!

Semi-OT: LSI raid card sorta....
I've got a box running C7, just updated (yesterday). It had an onboard
RAID controller, and an HBA. I just installed a new, additional RAID card,
all LSI.
MegaCli64 only sees one controller. I can't seem to find the magic to see
the others. I *know* the new card is a MegaRAID - the box it came in says
so. The system sees it

Well, sorta yes and sorta no Jonathan. Yes, in that I've moved my personal systems to Linux distros that don't use systemd.
No in the it's not "FUD"... The complaints about the code and development are facts. Not alternative facts, real, verifiable incidents and outages.

vardir as a symlink
hi,
i''m playing with puppet on a few machines, and i''d like to have my
puppet vardir on a volume other than the one on which my /var resides. i
tried creating a symlink, but puppet seems to blow that away and
recreate /var/puppet (!!). i''ve looked around in the source but don''t
see anything obvious.
am i doing something wrong?

has anybody gotten horde working?
Hi,
Horde seems to be quite the problem child. It sorta kinda looks like
session handling is entirely broken.
kronolith will let me in, but not for long. Then I get "invalid token"
and am bounced back to the home screen.
imp won't let me in at all. This behavior is completely broken: I get
a log in screen and a message in /var/log/messag...

[sorta offtopic] Removing bad bytes from filenames
I'm moving my Ogg Vorbis collection off of my Linux server and onto my
laptop. I plan on using iTunes to play my collection, but, that's a
whole 'nother can of worms.
I'm having trouble moving my complete collection over because dbPowerAmp
(an application I used to love) made some dumb decisions about naming my
files. For example, in track/album/artist names that contained a
