Don''t Shout at your JBODs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tDacjrSCeq4 I wonder if the inverse is true. If I whisper soothing words of encouragement at my JBODs, will I get more IOPS with reduced latency? :^)

puzzle
Sorry again for the only marginal relation to asterisk, but the issue does affect the voice performance I am experiencing, so I am soothing my guilt with that. Bet you don't see this every day: ast% uptime 13:48:08 up 981 days, 18:29, 1 user, load average: 1.08, 1.02, 1.01 ast% I *REALLY* want this machine to see 1000 days uptime, if for nothing other than bragging rights. Revisiting our informal policy to support two versions of MSVC
Hello, Today we hit another VS 2013 breakage < http://lab.llvm.org:8011/builders/sanitizer-windows/builds/26666/steps/run%20tests/logs/stdio> which results us having to alter LLVM. While we have no documented policy of supporting two version of MSVC, we do have an informal agreement that we should support the last two versions. I suggest that we alter our informal policy to the following:

levelplot and source() problems
I have been using levelplot but have had trouble calling it inside functions - something seems to go wrong when it's not called directly from the R command prompt. Simplest reproducible example: $ R --vanilla > library(lattice) > levelplot(matrix(1:4,2,2)) - This gives a nice plot in soothing pastel colors. Now, with a file lptest.r containing 2 lines: library(lattice)

[cfe-dev] Revisiting our informal policy to support two versions of MSVC
Hi all, Firstly sorry I'm a bit late responding on this one. Internally to ARM we build LLVM for Windows. Our current build cluster has only VS2013 installed and as a result of this thread we've been working on getting VS2015 installed. This involves a certain amount of IT-wrangling as the cluster we use is company-wide. There have been some hiccups regarding licensing of MSVC

Audio problems ins conference zap->sip
Hello! I have several problems in the audio one belonging to asterisk at conferences between ZAP - SIP. I hope that you may help me. 1 Problem When the audio establishes a call between two canals, some zap and another sip itself one listens interrupted in one of the senses, exactly in zap sip, with audio cuts. tune2fs options
Is there any way of making operations like dropping and adding a journal: tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/local/my_dev and tune2fs -o journal_data -j -J device=LABEL=my-journal-device /dev/local/my_dev more verbose? It would be nice to know what's going on, since just sitting there can be quite unnerving! In the end, it all worked ok, but actually seeing progress can be soothing. -- Ralf

Stupid problem with SAMBA and Windows NT4...
...now running out of disk space, I tried to activate SAMBA now (to move some files to Linux). I did this several times many times before, and I am very sure that I configured everything correctly, because it basically works. My questions: ------------- a.) Is there a way to have Windoze login as soothly as Win98 does? I would like that Windows does remember the last password, but it seems to be too dumb for that. b.) Primarily I need only printing from SAMBA, but I must connect a network drive, otherwise printing is also dead. c.) While other customers (also running NT4 + SAMBA)...

Feature Request: Vista's Windows Flip 3D
Dear Compiz Community, I've been testing out Windows Vista and have come away stunned at how comforting the user interface is. It's very cinema-like, with fades and a soothing response to mouse clicks. You don't become wired and frantic after a day's use. The most impressive feature to me so far is the Windows Flip 3D where you can actually flip through all the windows and tabs

log transforming predictor variables in a binomial GAM?
Hi all, I am applying a Presence/absence Generalized additive model to model the distribution of marine algae species in R. I have found that log transforming the environmental variables improves the explained deviance of the model considerably. While log transforming is common practice in GLM, I have been unable to find any papers where this is performed in a GAM. Im wondering whether this

[cfe-dev] Revisiting our informal policy to support two versions of MSVC
Apart from the obvious licencing issues, each time I have moved from one version of VC++ to another, the big problem I have had is not specifically the ABI at the register passing, stack organisation level, but rather the implementation details of the Standard C++ libraries, and in particular the STL containers. While the compiler team puts considerable effort into maintaining the ABI, the C++

Simplified Voicemail app / keeping peace with cohabitants
Hello, I have modified the VoiceMailMain application to satisfy the request of the "local users", i.e., my wife. She lost patience with too many options (we have one mailbox, so we don't need to forward messages, or reply to messages, or file them in 6 different folders...) So the modified app says "Message 1", reads the message, "Message 2", reads...

[cfe-dev] Revisiting our informal policy to support two versions of MSVC
Hi, As I understand it the specific issue we're seeing is related to what Martin described. But due to numerous bugs found when mixing objects compiled with different versions of MSVC in the past, we now are shy of doing it even if it seems to work superficially - that's no guarantee bugs won't be found down the line. We'd much prefer to stay within the realms of what Microsoft

[LLVMdev] backend documentation
The Sparc port is maybe the closest thing to a text book example at this time. You can study it; debug some examples and trace through things. It's very simple because nobody is working on the Sparc port to make it a commercial compiler for the Sparc platform; yet at the same time it has complex patterns, custom inserters etc and all the elements of a more serious port. Most people learn
