3.2.6 or 3.3
....3. Main use will be a few distributed, replicated volumes on two servers with maybe a dozen or so clients. Secondary use will be a distributed volume spread over all machines. What are people's experiences with 3.2.6 vs 3.3? Would you recommend 3.3 for operational use? Running Prognos 5 in WINE
Hello, I am trying to run a program named "Prognos" (Version 5) for medical purposes by a Company named "MedPrevent" (http://www.medprevent.de/produkte-prognos_de.php). As installation crashed, I installed on Windows and then copied the installed files to Linux where I wanted to run the app via wine. The startup dialogs show up but then there is an error message that the

How does btrfs behave on checksum mismatch?
I came across the tidbit that ZFS has a contract guarantee that the data read back will either be correct (the checksum computed over the data read from the disk matches the checksum stored on disk), or you get an I/O error. Obviously, this greatly reduces the probability that the data is invalid. (Particularly when taken in combination with the disk firmware''s own ECC and checksumming.)

A nicer and gentler form of spawner
I was working on deploying an app with switchtower, and I really dislike the way spawner is implemented. The way it will relaunch the dispatcher all the time just to let it die if the port is in use is too brute force for my taste. As we''re in a ruby script, why not let ruby find out if the port is in use? Using the TCPServer class we can try and bing to the port. If we succeed, it means

Puppet for mass hosting and ha/hp clusters ?
Hi all, I''m Benjamin Sonntag, I''m one of the AlternC project developpers. AlternC is an opensource mass-hosting control panel software suite based on debian. kernlab's ksvm method freeze
Hello, I am using kernlab to do some binary classification on aminoacid strings. I am using a custom kernel, so i use the kernel="matrix" option of the ksvm method. My (normalized) kernel matrix is of size 1309*1309, my results vector has the same length. I am using C-svc. My kernlab call is something similiar to this: ksvm(kernel="matrix", kernelMatrix, trainingDataYs,
