Sonicwall potentially causing long ping times to SIP phones
Hi,
I'm having an issue where some phones behind a sonicwall are auto-congesting.
The status on "sip show peer" shows ping times anywhere from 80ms all
the way up to 1100ms.
PCs behind the same firewall have a ping time of about 30ms to the PBX itself.
Does anyone know if the sonicwall is inserting delay into the SIP
signaling path and lagging the...

Dovecot pop3 and SonicWall?
Hello
Has anyone else run into a problem with dovecot pop3 and sonicwall? A
week after switching to dovecot we had two local customers call and
report they could no longer download emails with attachments. It
turned out to be the email macro filter on the router. After the first
report I thought maybe the customer had just changed something or it
was a fluke, but then a...

IAX2 + Sonicwall
Hi all,
I currently have an Asterisk test server behind a TZ170 Sonicwall
firewall / NAT box, with several DIDs.
I've found that inbound IAX2 calls don't work reliably (i.e., I get a
busy tone) unless I enable "Use Consistent NAT" in the Sonicwall. This
feature is poorly documented by Sonicwall, so I thought I'd pass it along.
Has anyone else r...

No subject
Enhanced OS.
General rules I use:
-Do not use SIP transformations (the VOIP tab), these cause random RTP =
issues, and once you start forwarding calls between users, all things go =
to heck. You are better off using NAT/qualify in your sip.conf.
-Do not use SonicOS Standard (all new Sonicwalls should come with =
Enhanced now anyway) as there is no method to increase the timeout for =
UDP rules, this will never be added to this firmware
-In SonicOS Enhanced, create inbound and outbound permit rules for all =
UDP traffic to your PBX (assuming it is on the WAN side), set the UDP =
timeout...

Node behind SonicWall Router
Recently the small business I work at replaced an aging linksys wrt
style router with a SonicWall one. Ever since this change I have issues
with this node falling back to TCP constantly. TCP for me ends up
performing very sub-par, and most of the time unworkable. For some
reason too the connection usually ends up being routed through another node.
I created a new tinc instance using TAP (in...

Sonicwall with Firmware 6.6.02 - SIP?
Sonicwall now has "SIP transformations" check box in
the Access section of the interface - does anyone know
how to make sense of this function? Tech support is
useless, and the help description is confusing. Using
on office network to connect Grandstream and Cisco
phones to asterisk PBX at remote...

Samba WINS issues over VPN
I am running Samba 3.4.8 as a PDC on Solaris 10. I recently made this
the WINS master- previously the BDC (Samba 3.0.37 on another Solaris 10
server.)
I also use Sonicwall ipsec VPN for remote access (Windows XP clients.)
The sonicwall client creates a virtual NIC on the client so that the
client can have an IP address directly on the company LAN (ie. the same
LAN as the samba servers.) I can, via dhcp, assign the WINS server IP
to the sonicwall clients.
All...

iax behind a SonicWall
Current dev cvs install on two systems. System A is behind a SonicWall
firewall, and system B is on a registered IP address. (System B has
multiple iax links that are fully functional to multiple locations.)
System A is correctly registering with System B, with no special firewall
rules.
Should System B be able to take advantage of the "registration" to se...

Polycom dhcp boot
Hi all
I have a few Polycom 331's but after following allot of advice I can't
get them to provision from a dhcp boot server. We have a sonicwall
router in place.
I can press setup and set the FTP boot server to my * box. From there
th phones boot fine. But I cannot get them to autoprovision.
I have tried dhcp option 66=ipaddres. 66=FTP://PlcmSpIp:PlcmSpIp at 192.168.1.1/
u ahve also tried options 129, 150, 160, etc.
I realise that this i...

Behind Firewalls, SonicWalls, etc..
...,
it passes the nonroutable address. Is there a ways to tell it to use
the firewall IP address for users coming in through that address(and the
firewalls nonroutable address).
On the flip side, I have run out of port forwarding slots on my LinkSys,
so I am trying to resurrect my old startup's SonicWall PRO. They indicate
they support SIP, but they do not elaborate upon that at all. Anyone have
comments concerning the SW & SIP?
So far I have an ATA-186, a DG104S, as well as a TDM400P and X100P with
service from iConnectHere. I hope to ship either the ATA-186 or DG104S
to Australia when I f...

Browsing and Mapped Drives over a VPN
Hello All:
I have a situation where I have a Samba box (RH 7.3 w/samba 2.2.4) that I
set up for a client. Another consultant came along and installed a VPN
using SonicWalls between the main site and a remote site. So now they want
the remote users to save files on my Samba box. No problem except that the
remote users can't see my local workgroup or any of the local machines.
Here's what's wierd (or where my knowledge breaks down :) )Their machine
names...

best MTU?
Hi all,
I have several locations, each connected by a Sonicwall VPN through
PPPOE DSL, with Snom 360 phones.
I've found that I have to tweak the Asterisk server MTU (inside one of
the firewalls) to get everything to work "just right". Set the server
MTU too low, and the Snom phones don't communicate correctly anymore.
Too high and the pho...

VPN-Clients
There is a SonicWall Pro 2040 to which I successfully established a VPN tunnel under
Windows XP using SonicWall VPN client.
Now, I'm looking for a way to establish a VPN tunnel to the same SonicWall device under
Linux.
Installing the SonicWall VPN client under wine 0.9.27 failed ans as far as I understand
