Whither Goest Wine?
It seems that fewer and fewer favorite programs run with wine. Stuff that ran 100% on older builds crashes out on the newer ones with elan. There needs to be (more) regression testing. However, damage has already been done and propagated and needs correction simply to get back to the previous level of operability.

'Testing' branch will supercede 'Stable' in SVN
Folks, When we migrated from CVS to SVN, we brought along both the Testing and Stable branches. However, since SVN allows us to create a snapshot of an entire branch for a release, the Stable branch is somwhat redundant (since we would have to do an extra 'svn merge' to put changes there). After discussing this with Arnaud, and noting that nothing has been committed to 'Stable' since the SVN migration, I plan to delete the 'Stable' branch. Changes which have been tested on the tr...

Unable to connect, access denied "Trying to print for W2K to Samba"
I have notied this being reported before, with nos resolution apparent. I have the exact same problem, and cannot print from a domain account, but have noticed that if I log into the domain as "root", I can print fine, and the above mentioned error goes away. Hope this helps somwhat in the resoultion pf this problem. Other than this problem I can print from both Windows, and Linux; and the quality is fabulous (using CUPS) TIA -- John Allen email: john.allen@online.ie OpenSource Developer : www...

kernel question
An interesting bug in RHEL 3(which affects CentOS 3) has been bantered around for a while. There are some kernel patches(beyond my scope right now) or some echo statements tht are used(this helped my situation). The newest 2.4.x kernels have these patches incorporated. Would centOS 3 go nuts if i installed the latest kernel from kernel.org? <btw the issue is that the 2.4.xx kernels

problem with predict() for gam() models
...to it, in the part of the regression where I'm going to need to interpolate. Since the regression itself is on splines, I didn't think I needed to call spline interpolation; I thought In my real-life application the regression isn't linear, like the one I constructed here (it looks somwhat, but not quite enough, like a logistic regression), but I thought it would simplify my example to construct do things this way. Alas, with these data (or my real, nonlinear, data) I get an error from optimize() (either with these fake data, or with my real data) because f() delivers a vector-v...

Byte-wide stores aren't coalesced if interspersed with other stores
Hi, I have, in postres, a piece of IR that, after inlining and constant propagation boils (when cooked on really high heat) down to (also attached for your convenience): source_filename = "pg" target datalayout = "e-m:e-i64:64-f80:128-n8:16:32:64-S128" target triple = "x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" define void @evalexpr_0_0(i8* align 8 noalias, i32* align 8 noalias) {

Prosodic/phonetic analysis with R
Hi Folks, I'm interested in looking (in a beginner's amateurish way) at prosodic/phonetic analysis of recorded speech. In particular I would want to use R to formulate and evaluate specific models. So I would like to ask R people for their recommendations for a program which would a) Take as input a sound file in one of the common formats (".wav", ".au") b)

Initial patch to implement partial auth with SSH2
Attached is a patch which adds a new config option, AuthOrder2, to sshd_config.c. The syntax is: AuthOrder2 AuthMethod1[:SubAuthMethod1[:SubAuthMethod2...]][,AuthMethod2...] An example, requiring users to enter a public key _and_ a password, in that order: AuthOrder2 publickey:password The current default behaviour: AuthOrder2 password,publickey,keyboard-interactive Require a public key,

[PATCH mesa 0/4] nv30: Various fixes
Hi All, Here is a bunch of fixes for nv30 cards, the first patch is a resend of a patch I send a while back. AFAICT that one is ready for merging, but it is not entirely clear to me what the process is for getting (nouveau) mesa patches merged. Should I request commit rights, and push my own patches once they have been reviewed ? Regards, Hans

Lack of support of Stored Procedures is a Show Stopper
In my opinion most mature/complex client/server or n-tier applications using SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL, use stored procedures. Without support (except by use of the execute method) for Stored Procedures, Ruby on Rails or MonoRail is a Show Stopper. We are unable to effectively use Ruby On Rails as all access to the db is using Stored Procedures. This does not mean that we are unable to use

mdf -- better adaption of W?
...9;. The first values are for the oldest frame, ok :) However, when peeking at the values, it seems that the weights for frame 0 (newest) are very low. For frame 1, they are slightly positive. For frame 2, they are fairly low, except in the specific range of my test signal, where they range from somwhat posivie (around 0.25) to somewhat negative (-0.25). For frame 3, they are positive all around, around the 0.5 area, but higher in the frequency bands of my test signal. For frame 4, they are very low, except in the range of the test signal, where they are slightly negative. For frame 5, they are...

"Debain" way of installing packages
Hello! I use Debian GNU/Linux at work and I really like apt-get tool. As far as I understand the whole picture, there are now some Debian packages of R packages. Build of Debian packages is done automagically by Perl script. By the way, what is the status of Debianizing R packages? Is it stopped, just holded, ... I don't know so I am asking There is also Bioconductor and I am aware that the

[PATCH 0 of 4] aio event fd support to blktap2
Get blktap2 running on pvops. This mainly adds eventfd support to the userland code. Based on some prior cleanup to tapdisk-queue and the server object. We had most of that in XenServer for a while, so I kept it stacked. 1. Clean up IPC and AIO init in tapdisk-server. [I think tapdisk-ipc in blktap2 is basically obsolete. Pending a later patch to remove it?] 2. Split tapdisk-queue into

Tables with Graphical Representations
Hi useRs - I was wondering if anyone out there can tell me where to find R-code to do mixes of tables and graphics. I am thinking of something similar to this: http://yost.com/information-design/powerpoint-corrupts/ or like the excel routines people are demonstrating: http://infosthetics.com/archives/2006/08/excel_in_cell_graphing.html My aim is to provide small graphics to illustrate
