shutdown a windows guest take ages..... (20- 34 minutes here)
hi,
i use libvirt 1.0.2 (-r1 , gentoo linux).
when i create a vm with win7 guest, virtio nic, virtio hdd, all is
running fine.
but when i shutdown the windows guest, it takes somestimes 20-34
minutes !!!
iotop shows me in the whole time writing with 2,xxmb/sec.
is the complete machine "rewritten" to disk?
i use disk.images on a raid6, but hey, dd shows me it can writes there
with 26mb/sec.
any ideas what causes these long shutdown times?

Some basic SELinux questions
At my place we don't use SELinux because we have a gazillion tonnes of
legacy software that just are not compatible with the default policies.
No one wants to go to the effort of working out everything that needs
changing.
We also use cfengine for central management. Which somestimes causes
a problem when CFe modifies a file that I don't want modified on my
machine.
So I want to be able to track when specific files were changed. My
obvious thought was "create an SELinux audit policy that can track
file changes, raise a log message", and we can monitor the logs....

Since we are an university GEO-IP blocking is not an option for us.
Somestimes I think it should ;-)
My "mistake" was that I had just *one* fail2ban filter for both cases:
"wrong password" and "unknown user".
Now I have two distinct jails:
The first one just for "wrong password" and here the findtime, bantime, retries
are tolerant to...

"somehow" similar to the thread "under some kind oof attack" started by "MJ":
I have dovecot shielded by fail2ban which works fine.
But since a few days I see many many IPs per day knocking on
my doors with wron password and/or users. But the rate at which they are knocking
is very very low. So fail2ban will never catch them.
