Samba vs PAM
...iled with --with-pam.. My desire is to authenticate Samba users against Novell NDS. I managed to do this (under Linux) with many programs but Samba somehow resists :) I put something like this into /etc/pam.d/samba : auth required /lib/security/pam_ncp_auth.so use_first_pass server=some_server But Samba still authenticates against smbpasswd :( .. one more question - is there a way to completely disable the need of smbpasswd if I want to authenticate _only_ against Novell NDS ? Please help :-) Thanx.. Marek "MaX" Le?

Setting up Samba on Red Hat Linux 6.1
pn] I'm trying to set up Samba on a Linux Red Hat 6.1 machine. Other machines on my network are NT4 and Win98. I generally followed a NHT, except that I have a domain using user-level access for shares instead of a share-level access. I couldn't get it to work, and tried diagnosing it using the document at http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/DIAGNOSIS.html. Several tests are not working as

Rgenerating headers
...rom the comment header. If comments were really needed, they could also be communicated out of band in the SDP file something like a=vorbis_comment: "Copyright" "Some One" a=vorbis_comment: "Date" "Some date" or a=vorbis_comment_url: "http://some_server/some_path/some_file" but that's rather dangerous for multicast if the client auto download the URL. So, back to my question - is there any reason why you shouldn't be able to completely regenerate the header packets/frames from what I have outlined ? --PMM -----------------------...

Samba problem
Hi, I have a problem connecting my Windows98 to the Samba server. The Linux computer comes up in the "Network Neighborhood" control panel, but when I double click on the icon, W98 asks for a password for the "\\machine name\IPC$" resource. But my password will not me accepted. I have logged in as user "root" with a given password on both computers. When I set
