help with icecast2 & ices2
Hi
I'm trying to setup a new streaming server for us. We are a radio
station which we stream live and have archive files (mp3). We currently
are using icecast-1.3.12 on solaris9 and darkice-0.13.1 also on
solaris9. I have setup two new servers using icecast-2.2.0 on solaris9
and ices-2.0.1 on solaris9. I'm not sure if I have setup the conf files
correct (see attached files) but I am getting this error on my ices server.

Joining ADS Domain from Solaris9
To everybody who tries do join an ADS Domain from a Samba 3.0.25pre2
server on Solaris 9:
The Solaris9 getpass(3C) takes passwords up to PASS_MAX length,
which is only 8. That means if you try something like
# net ads join -U admin@MY.REALM
and the admin password is more than 8 characters in length,
you'll get "Preauthentication failed".
The solution to this is to use getpassphrase(...

Unable to build with working iconv support on Solaris9/x86
Hi all,
Have had a frustrating time trying to get R 2.5.1 running happily on
Solaris9/x86, the problems seem to stem mainly from libiconv
support. After a couple of hours of experimenting, I came across the
following combination, note that iconv (the program, but not the
library) exists in the Solaris base system, I've manually installed
the full GNU distribution in /us...

Samba on Solaris9
Samba-Persons,
Could someone help me with the location of a specific
'how-to' to get samba up and running on Solaris 9 (64bit). Or any other
info on the subject.

Still no working windbind on Solaris9 - samba 3.4.9
Greetings,
Was away from samba for a time, now trying again. I have this working
under Solaris 10, but have not been able to get a functional samba
Active Directort member server working on Solaris 9 since samba 3.2.15.
Later versions Samba will serve file to PC clients, but not permit
interactive logins to the host. I see messages like:
ld.so.1: su: fatal: relocation error: file

[re-post] Printing issues. 2.2.7, Solaris9
Hi There
Apologies for re-posting this. I am still at a dead end. Sun "Don't
Support Samba." I have seen nothing in any of the Doc's out there ( If
it is I'd be happy to accept an RTFM ) and need to get this to work.
Any suggestions or hints would be VERY welcome.
I run a Samba (Version 2.2.7) Print server on a Solaris 9 box.
Setup is pretty simple. There are

Strange behaviour w/ Solaris9 + pam_ldap + openssh 3.7.1p2
Hello,
I have a Solaris 9 system which is using Sun's pam_ldap to access user &
group information in a Netscape 4.16DS. This was working fine until I
upgraded ssh on the box. However, now I'm using 3.7.1p2 with pam support
I have the following problem:
If a user (local or ldap) enters the correct password everything works
fine. Entering a wrong password results in the sshd

I've searched the mailing list archives and google and seen quite a bit of
this with no solutions. Was hoping to reach out here and find someone who
has this working.

Samba 3.0.23c Install on Solaris9
Hello. I have been trying to find an answer to a problem that has
plagued our systems. I am trying to upgrade from 3.0.22 to 3.0.23c. I
have been able to compile,
but when I go to join it to the AD domain, I keep getting this familiar
error that many others have noted but have not posted many solutions to.

bug (filelist) for platforms solaris and darwin (macosx) and *not* linuxi386
I have found a nasty bug when a file, which is in some of many sources,
shall be copied to a target.
The linux-Version works well but rsync 2.5.{2|5|6} under solaris9 (gcc
2.95.3) and darwin (gcc 3.1) do not. The decision which file (out of which
src) shall be copied depends on the number of src dirs given on the command
line.
This bug bytes us very hard, because we decided to rely on rsync to build
local directories by "overlaying" different dire...

Syncing time for non-Admin logons? - net time \\superserver /set /yes
...res on the Samba Server
echo Mapping Network Drives to Samba Server Theremin
net use s: \\superserver\scratch
net use r: \\superserver\share
\\virusserver\Antivirus\PCCSRV\AUTOPCC.EXE
-----end script -----
The NET TIME command seems to be runable only by the local admin. The
\\superserver is a Solaris9 box running samba 3.0.1pre3 and also acts as an
ntp server.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how to have my samba clients update with
the server?
Cheers

imap-login zombies
Running dovecot-0.99.13 on Solaris9/Sparc with ~25k users, we are having
regularly recurring problems with large numbers imap-login/pop3-login

Over the course of 1-2 days, the number of such processes slowly rises
to >1000, exhausts resources, and necessitates that dovecot be restarted

getting rsync to work
...sed (0 bytes received so far) [receiver]
# rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(359)
Basically it seems to go wrong after logging into the remote machine when it
says "bash: rsync: command not found".
rsync is definitely installed on both machines which are Solaris9 and is in
the user's
environment path. So I don't understand why it says "rsync: command not
found"...?
Any thoughts comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Newbie SAMBA Printing question
Can SAMBA be used on Solaris9/SUN OS 5.8 to emulate a MicroSoft NetBeui client and thereby print to a print server.
I have a printer(ps) that is netbeui only and want to print to it from a Sparc station. lp and lpr are not available by TCP/IP.
Please respond off the board(direct-mail) as I'm sure this is too basic for mos...

Samba and macintoshes
I have a mixed network with windows & macs using samba on Solaris9 for
file sharing.
When one of the macs opens a file (tex illustrator doc) then that file
remains locked even when the user has closed the doc.
When somebody else opens the file it becomes readonly. The file remains
listed as rdonly under swat even when the person has logged out..
The only way...
