Help with OpenSSL config for Sol7 SUN4U
I need some help with .Configure for OpenSSL. I compiled versions for all Solaris (2.5, 2.6, 2.8) platforms, but I am having problems with the SUN sparc Ultra-60 (220-r) running Solaris 7 SUN4U configuration. I am trying to configure OpenSSL 0.9.6.C and have GCC version 2.95.3 for Solaris 7. When executing ./config , I received the following errors: Operating system: sun4u-whatever-solaris2

Solaris 7 w/ current CVS.
Not sure about any other version, but I know sol7 lacks SIZE_T_MAX which we are now using in -current. OpenBSD defines it as ULONG_MAX. Pawing through the Solaris /usr/include it stated it could be 'u_int' or 'u_long'. Depends on if your are compiling legacy stuff. I'm sure other OSes may encounter this issue (not tried Li...

OpenSSH and hostname resolution issues on Solaris
...e never gets past starting sshd during boot, but usually you "just" can't reach the machine with ssh. The OpenSSH in question is anything from ~2.9 to 3.5p1, compiled with tcp_wrappers and sshd: ALL in hosts.allow (if that matters). OS is Solaris 8, but I think we've had it in Sol7 as well. Some answers that turn up when browsing list archives seem to discuss misconfigured reverse-dns combined with all: PARANOID in hosts.deny but we haven't used the paranoid stuff. Sometimes the DNS is just out of reach and that's when things start going wrong. Some simple solution...

Another round of testing calls.
Outside the known 'Hang-on-exit' bug and the Solaris 'PAM_TTY_KLUDGE' required. *WHAT* other issues *MUST* be address before 3.0 which is approaching fast? Those running NeXTStep I need conformation that it works under NeXT. My current Slab is packed in a storage unit due to a fire in my apartment complex (happened above me so I'm wrapping up dealing with that crap =). -

A clue to solaris problem?
Got this from one of my users today ... ========== sshing did still work last week, but you had to use the blowfish encryption protocol instead of 3des that is used by default. ========== Marc G. NT Domain validation error
Hi all, Can somebody help me solve the foll. error. I have installed samba in 4 servers (sol8 in 3 nos and sol7 in 1 no) and have configured for our NT domain validation (have pointed it to our domain server) and it has been working fine for more than 2 weeks. Now suddenly all the servers are asking for user name and passwords. I tried stopping and restarting the daemons. Still the same condition. Then I...

command line edit
Does anybody know a way to edit your command line arguments on the command line, other than deleting everything and re-typing? My user just want to be able to use emacs like commands - like you can do in a shell, and s-plus from what he says. I attempted to set up the emacs add-on, without much success, on a Solaris 7 box, but he doesn't really want that, he just wants the command line

Here's a recipe for Samba+Active Directory on Solaris 9
...keep up with Sun recommended patches you may have this already. If you want to grow old quickly, attempt to build the entire GNU toolchain on Solaris9! Alternatively, be sensible and use the following list of binaries packaged at http://sunfreeware.com : gcc-3.3.2-sol9-sparc-local.gz bison-1.34-sol7-sparc-local.gz (built for Solaris 7; no higher Bison version or Heimdal breaks, no higher Solaris version or there is a library problem on Solaris 9 . ) m4-1.4.2-sol9-sparc-local.gz make-3.80-sol9-sparc-local.gz db-4.2.52.NC-sol9-sparc-local.gz (no lower version or OpenLDAP breaks) binutils-2.1...

...to the HOMES share. When connecting from this client the smblog says: "NT MD4 password check failed" When connecting this home share via smbclient, from NT clients or other w2k clients with the same user as above there are *no* problems! We're using unencrypted passwords (samba 2.0.5a/Sol7) and the corresponding registry entry in the client in question is ok. I've done smb (see below) and snoop traces (I'll send them if necessary) but, since I'm no SMB expert, they are'nt very helpful to me. Hopefully someone has an idea how to proceed with this problem!? TIA, Wal...
