final tests fail with samba...can anyone help?
Hello, I just took an old PC and installed SuSE 7.0 on it. The machine has 32Mb of RAM, so I needed a slim installation and kernel, and this was the only package I could get to install without immense effort (I tried 5 other versions of small linux distros from linuxiso.org before this one). The version of Samba I installed on this Suse box is 2.0.7. From what I have read, this version SHOULD

Recommend verification
I recommend someone verify that tar.gz and tar.xz files ( at https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/boot/syslinux/ ) unpack without errors. (I assume use of compression is in hope of saving download bandwidth) Regards

Maildir problem..
...folder, the message disappears. It appears that dovecot shortens the Maildir message name to ":2,S" and then you can't access the message from the MUA again. The same happens if you try and move a message from a foler to another folder.. Any ideas? -- Jesse Peterson erage at softhome.net

No shell prompt presented on SSH connection
...ord authentication works... The output of ssh -vv from a client machine is exactly the same as the output when connecting to a machine where I do get a prompt, so it must be something outside of the ssh connection itself. Does anyone know where to look? Thanks, -- Casey Allen Shobe cshobe at softhome.net 'Why do people with closed minds always open their mouths?'

Largescale Asterisk setup - 1000 external lines
Hi there Does anyone know if it is possible to install a largescale asterisk cluster with up to 1000 external lines. Redundancy and loadbalancing would surely be a must for a such system, but which other things should be considered? Best Regards Guenther Rust

Easiest CD --> Vorbis
...asiest single step command to use cdparanoia & oggenc to convert a CD straight into oggs without sucking a ton of disk space for WAVs in the meantime? Hi All: I was recently working with a dataset on arsenic poisoning. Among the variables in the dataset, I used the following three variables to produce crosstabulations (variable names: FOLSTAT, GENDER, ASBIN; all three were categorical variables, FOLSTAT denoted follow up status for the subjects and had seven levels, GENDER denoted sex (two levels: male,female), and ASBIN denoted binarized

nmbd woes (still)
Ok I've fed this problem with about five hours of my time to post to a list about it. nmbd does not appear to be doing what it should. Why I'm not certain. The unix host (running samba) is not appearing in on the windows browse list (i.e. it's not showing up in the network neighbourhood). when I run nmbd with -d2 I get the following: Netbios nameserver version 2.2.8 started.

How do you organize the objects you produced?
Hello! It would be nice to hear how you organize the R-objects you produced. I found almost nothing about that neither in the R-manuals nor in two books about S. For example I am trying to find out, how to load the functions that I have written and that are now saved in a .txt-file in a Windows directory. Is copying and pasting it to the RGui console really the only feasible way to do that?
