copy of smbpasswd
Hi, I have to move our old samba file server to a new machine. The old samba server was a RedHat8 with samba 2.2.5. The new one is SLES9 with samba 3.0.2b-3.4 SuSE Is there a way to re-use the old smbpasswd file? In the log-files I can see that the authentication fails when I try to access a shared folder. The one that comes with SuSE 10.0? Did we do something wrong? Thanks in Advance! Regards, Tom

However, we can change the read-only flag manually on a Windows XP client. When we try to lock a file with TurtoiseSVN, we get the following error Error: Can't get default file perms for file at

All the manuals and examples I can find, are talking about Domains and PDCs. I have to set up a new Samba server and checkout LDAP but I'm not allowed to change the Workgroup settings... Now we use smbpasswd... Is LDAP worth the effort and time? Kind
