...ich is mostly spent on servers and bandwidth.
Xiph does not as far as I know have a single full time
paid employee. As such, Xiph costs (in terms of not
paying tax) the tax payer close to nothing. It does
however provide what I and very many other consider
very useful software.
> It is simply socialistically funded.
Rubbish! It is funded by donations. Those donations are
spent on servers and bandwidth. There is no profit to
tax even if Xiph wasn't a non-profit organisation.
Let me remind you, that most western governments choose
to give churches and other religious organisations non-profit...

...ork is so profoundly important to
humanity, that we forego profit". Non-profit is a
tax term meant to gain subsidy from governments
in the form of tax exemption. And we taxpayers
pay for that subsidy. No, Speex is not a
Communist "plot", as you sardonically put it. It
is simply socialistically funded. An organization
declares that it has no profits by completely
distributing any revenues to its members and
paying for services to its suppliers. Now I don't
claim to know anything about Xiph's accounting,
but we do know that it has expenses that must be covered.

Canadian politcal party colours in ggplot2
A stupid question but does anyone know how to express the actual colours used by the main Canadian political parties? I want to do a couple of ggplot2 plots and have lines or rectangles that accurately reflect the party colours.
I can probably play around with RColorBrewer or something to figure it out but if some some already has got them it would save me some time especially with the NDP

An initial look at Trails
I''m posting this here because I''m sure that there are a few Rails fans

First let me set the stage I love [Rails](http://www.rubyonrails.com)

American companies. I believe strongly in public commons, as long as
people choose to do so freely.
And Red Hat has continually been the only commercial Linux company that

Hello Jean:
Big mistake!!
One of the three things that a supplier should never discuss is
politics ... that's business 101.
Speex may be a very good product, but we will never use it because of
the politics that you espouse ... some of us out here believe
strongly in the free market. And we also know that monopolies can't
exist because entrepreneurs will always exploit the

Just curious, maybe some old timers could help me out. I am working with
a company that is migrating 20 years of Mainframe Software Development
to Unix, HPUX. How much harder would it be to go to Linux, Centos Linux?
Also, anyone have any experience with Fujitsu Cobol on Centos? The
Fujitsu people only support Red Hat, and said I'd be on my own with
Centos. In other words if it works,

RFC: Introducing an LLVM Community Code of Conduct
Greetings everyone,
On behalf of the board of the LLVM Foundation, I’d like to start the
process of introducing a formal code of conduct for the community.
For a long time, various members of the community have been enforcing basic
reasonable and respectful behavior, but to an outsider this may not be
obvious. A public code of conduct advertises the behavior we expect of
community members and
