Problem with virtual network bridge
Hi all,
I''ve got another problem with virt-install trying to create a Windows XP HVM under OpenSolaris 2008.05 (snv_86). Virt-install hangs for about a minute trying to create the virtual network interface. The config/default-nic parameter has been set for xend.
I''ve attached the logs as I can''t sensibly include the trace inline in this message (stupid).
Any ideas most welcome!
Nick

BUG: Bad grep when building dovecot?
...od solution presents itself. I'll probably give it a new GNU grep
just to get it to shut up, but I'm a bit surprised.
I tried to compile dovecot in an OpenSolaris 2008.5 system in a zone
(which is quite a bit more minimal than base OpenSolaris).
bash-3.2# uname -a
SunOS postfix-s0 5.11 snv_86 i86pc i386 i86pc
bash-3.2# ./configure --help
`configure' configures dovecot 1.0.12 to adapt to many kinds of systems.
bash-3.2# which grep
/usr/bin/grep
bash-3.2# grep -v
Usage: grep -hblcnsviw pattern file . . .
bash-3.2# which egrep
/usr/bin/egrep

Probem creating a Windows XP HVM with snv_90
Hi all,
I''ve just upgraded my OpenSolaris 2008.05 workstation to snv_90 after unsucessfully trying to get virt-install.sh to run on snv_86 and now have (I think) a more serious problem. In the xend-debug.log file I keep getting the following error repeated many times :
Failed allocation for dom 8: 1 extents of order 9
ERROR Internal error: Cannot allocate more 2M pages for HVM guest.
(16 = Device busy)
Does anyone have an idea why?...

zpool upgrade wrecked GRUB
Machine is running x86 snv_94 after recent upgrade from opensolaris 2008.05. ZFS and zpool reported no troubles except suggesting upgrade for from ver.10 to ver.11. seemed like a good idea at the time. system up for several days after that point then took down for some unrelated maintenance.
now will not boot the opensol, drops to grub prompt, no menus.
zfs was mirrored on two disks c6d0s0 and

HELP! SNV_97,98,99 zfs with iscsitadm and VMWare!
I''m not sure if this is a problem with the iscsitarget or zfs. I''d greatly appreciate it if it gets moved to the proper list.
Well I''m just about out of ideas on what might be wrong..
Quick history:
I installed OS 2008.05 when it was SNV_86 to try out ZFS with VMWare. Found out that multilun''s were being treated as multipaths so waited till SNV_94 came out to fix the issues with VMWARE and iscsitadm/zfs shareiscsi=on.
I Installed OS2008.05 on a virtual machine as a test bed, pkg image-update to SNV_94 a month ago, made some...

The best motherboard for a home ZFS fileserver
I''m a fan of ZFS since I''ve read about it last year.
Now I''m on the way to build a home fileserver and I''m thinking to go with Opensolaris and eventually ZFS!!
Apart from the other components, the main problem is to choose the motherboard. The offer is incredibly high and I''m lost.
Minimum requisites should be:
- working well with Open Solaris ;-)
-
