Problems with Samba 3.4 under Opensolaris snv_111b
Hi List,
I compiled Samba 3.4 for Opensolaris because the samba SUNWsmba
shipped my SFW did not work properly.
Now I had to realize, that the Problems are still there so I beleve
that it is a common Problem with Solaris (?)
I have samba running as PDC with a Sun Directory Server as backend.
All Authentication to Unix Clients work well with DSEE but Samba seems

Repeating scrub does random fixes
I''ve been using a 5-disk raidZ for years on SXCE machine which I converted to OSOL. The only time I ever had zfs problems in SXCE was with snv_120, which was fixed.
So, now I''m at OSOL snv_111b and I''m finding that scrub repairs errors on random disks. If I repeat the scrub, it will fix errors on other disks. Occasionally it runs cleanly. That it doesn''t happen in a consistent manner makes me believe it''s not hardware related.

Using tun interface with dladm and flowadm
Hello,
I am a rather new user to OpenSolaris and I have been loving every minute of
it. I have spent quite a lot of time looking around for bandwidth management
features and Project Crossbow is just amazing. It is truly amazing compared
to what Linux has to offer.
I would like to use flowadm to do some bandwidth management on a tun
interface. The problem is that it is not recognized by the dladm

ZFS on top of ZFS iSCSI share
I have a filer running Opensolaris (snv_111b) and I am presenting a
iSCSI share from a RAIDZ pool. I want to run ZFS on the share at the
client. Is it necessary to create a mirror or use ditto blocks at the
client to ensure ZFS can recover if it detects a failure at the client?
Thanks,

USB sticks show on one set of devices in zpool, different devices in format
Hello,
I had snv_111b running for a while on a HP DL160G5. With two 16GB USB sticks comprising the mirrored rpool for boot. And four 1TB drives comprising another pool, pool1, for data.
So that''s been working just fine for a few months. Yesterday I get it into my mind to upgrade the OS to latest, then was s...

Unable to compile --with-mysql on Solaris
Hello
I'm hoping someone can give me a pointer as to how to compile Dovecot with
MySQL support on Solaris.
I am trying to compile dovecot 2.0.13 (also tried 2.0.9) on Solaris
(OpenSolaris 2009-06, snv_111b) with the OpenSolaris provided MySQL 5.1.30

Disabling checksum offloading at install OSOL 2009.06 PV DomU on Xen 3.4.1 Ubuntu 9.04 Dom0 ( with 2.6.30.1 xenified aka Suse kernel)
Following bellow procedure involves Solaris Kernel module debugger to patch OSOL’s (SNV_111b) kernel at booting up to succeed with dhcp lease and to be able proceed with initial install. File /etc/system gets updated via root terminal session before standard reboot to make the patch for kernel permanent

I/O errors after zfs promote back and forth
Hi,
I have just observed the following issue and I would like to ask if it is
already known:
I''m using zones on ZFS filesystems which were cloned from a common template
(which is itself an original filesystem). A couple of weeks ago, I did a pkg
image-update, so all zone roots got cloned again and the new zone roots got
promoted. I then decided to undo the update and promoted the

Expand zpool capacity
Hello, Experts.
I''ve got a problem. I''m trying to expand my main zpool (rpool), but don''t know how to do that. (i''m 100% newbie in non-windows world)
I use Osol under Vmware on Windows.
I had a pretty small vhdd -> only 12gb. Yesterday i decided to expand my virtual drive to 20gb. (After several tries to upgrade the OS to a newest dev-releases and

I created 5 VM''s on a single ESX Host (Dell 1950) with a Data Store connected to the "mini-thumper" running 2009.06 snv_111b via NFS over a single GB link.
Each VM runs Windows 2003 R2 on a 4GB C:\ vmdk. Dynamo runs 1 worker on the local C: vmdk on each guest and reports to my workstation, so the numbers below are totals of the dynamo on all 5 guests.
Each test consisted of an 8k transfer with a 67% read, and 70% rand...

space_map again nuked!!
...st replaced the whole spacemap by recreating a new zpool from scratch and copying back the data with "zfs send & zfs receive".
Did it copied corrupt spacemap?!
For me its now terminated. I loss to much time and money with this experimental filesystem.
My version is Zpool & ZFS of snv_111b.
I will switch back to Linux to ext4.
