Output and Word
Hi
I have just started to have a look at R. I have used most stats software
packages and can use perl, visual basic etc. I am interested in how well
it handles lots of output e.g. tables or charts. How would you get lots
of output most easily and quickly into a Word document?

Smbpasswd + password sync on OS X
...==============================
Where <USERNAME> is the user who is changing their password.
No errors are shown in the shell, and the user simply recieves the
normal 'Password changed succesfully' message.
Any ideas if this built in version of Samba is simply borked?

Mounting Windows Shares from Linux
Hi All,
I'm sure this has been discussed many times but since I do not have
a internet connection, I have to ask this question..

'Apple' Samba 2.2.3a on OS X 10.2.6 -> Samba 2.2.8a upgrade
...panic(1094)
PANIC: failed to set gid
Any ideas? Is it actually possible to replace the built in version of
Samba with a later 'proper' version that we can just do local, user
based security authentication with, or does Apples 'netinfo' system get
in the way no matter what?

Samba / Networking trouble since latest windows update
...niversity, but it would really help if
anyone had heard of anything related to this security update, or
problems it has caused.
I'm under the impression that this windows update has changed some
settings in or the registry on all client machines... as to what it
is... I'm at a loss.

default-settings.
But as i said , it works , i can join domains , hope there is a sun-guru.

Basic Samba Config Question
Hi all,
I am new to samba and just setting up a Samba server. I was looking up a
few samba documents and it talks about creating the smb.conf file, syncing
the "smbpasswd" files and setting samba users, almost all i have done.
I was wondering if anybody would know of any good documents or sources
where I could find out about the samba basics? I dont really want to do
anything too

Elliptic curve on Centos 6.x
Hi,
Is there nice way to put back EC encryption on Centos?
RHEL disabled it due "patent issues", but is third party providing packages
to EC enabled packages to centos ?

Problems usign samba with Windows XP Pro
Hello,
I have upgraded my computer from W2K to W XP Pro.
I use samba connections to reach an Aix server (4.3.3), on which samba
2.2.8a is installed.
Before upgrading my computer, everything worked perfectly, but since, the
first time I try to access a file or directory on a samba network
filesystem, I takes approximately 5 to 6 minutes to make connection. After
that, response time is fine.

conflict between Realtek 8139 (client) and3c2000T(server) NIC's with Samba?
...s (2-3% in Windows task manager).
Those Realtek cards are now sitting in machines that my family only use for web browsing... and with ADSL, they still taxes the cpu more than they should, in fact, I'd hazard a guess that a couple of old 3C509B ISA cards would probably hit the cpu less.

Printing vs. iptables
Recently, Windows 2000 SP4 clients have developed a problem when using a
network printer connected to a Samba print share.
Some applications are OK. But take, well, notepad, for example. Selecting
a local printer is normal, but there is a two minute delay (!) in selecting
a network printer. Once selected, all is well. All smb operations are
frozen until the selection happens. This is

Backup from Linux onto Win2K-share
Hi.
I'm running Kernel 2.4.19 and Samba 2.2.5.
I'm in need to do a backup out of big SAPDB database (60 GB)
onto a share on a Win2K-box (all my databases have to backup
onto this w2K-box where they get saved on tape).
This works fine as long as it comes to 2 GB. Than it stops with
the message "file size exceeded". Obviously there is a file size limit
somewhere in Samba.

Activesupport error on start - extract_options
I''m trying to get Rails up and running on a new port of Ruby to
Arm/WinCE devices that I''ve been working on, built using CEGCC tools for
''mostly'' Posix compatability, rather than using the existing Ruby WinCE
binaries.
Ruby runs and is installed under \ruby in root of the device itself.
I''ve edited the following files of a default Rails 2.0.2 *zip*
