Status of DTrace NFSv3/v4 client providers
We recently had a strange NFS performance anomaly between a V880 running snv_124 and two NetApp filers. To investigate, a DTrace NFSv4 (and eventually NFSv3) client provider would been extremely helpful. Unfortunately, all I could find were a request for code review of a v3 client provider and another request for help developing a v4 provider. Nothing seems to have come from those initiatives,

So, about that Beta...
...om the original June 2003 prediction? Will the theora.org website EVER be updated with news (and the long-incorrect "how to get it from CVS" information fixed)? (Would it help if someone volunteered to take over updating it?) Will the annoying "project fanboy" ever quit asking snotty questions?.... Seriously, though - it's been over half a year since the sole release of Ogg Theora code (Alpha 1). Alpha 2 got pushed back several times and then quietly abandoned. The last news I had heard was that instead there'd be a March Beta instead of a second Alpha. Obviously T...

New Web Forum
...it would be great if the Icecast forum could rise above the other forums. Here are the problems that I see at other boards: The content is usually so disorganized that it is rather difficult to find anything. But, even when you search as best you, there's always the jerk who responds with snotty remarks about reading the rules and searching before posting. They always point out that there's an excellent answer on the board, but, never tell you where it is. Also, there are the folks who make the assumption that because you asked a question, you must know nothing about the topic, so...

Btrfs going forward, was: Errors on an SSD drive
...EXT4 >> depending on my need. Could you get your quoting in proper order? The way you did this looks like I wrote the above steaming pile rant. Whoever did write it, it's ridiculous, meaning it's worthy of ridicule. From the provably unscientific and non-technical, to craptasticly snotty writing "not to mention the fact" and then proceeding to mention it. That's just being an idiot, and then framing it. Where are your bug reports? That question is a trap if you haven't in fact filed any bugs, in particular upstream. > As for a hardware problem, the drives w...

post() to other controller in functional test?
In a functional test, I want to call an action in another controller (a login) before testing things in the current controller. As far as I can tell from the extremely sparse documentation and the AWDR book, this seems to be impossible. The post() functions takes an action argument only, and that''s that. Surely I must be misunderstanding things? -- Calle Dybedahl

Stop browser from "form filling" fields.
Hi all, I have a user login form which the browser keeps populating because of its form fill feature. So when anyone goes to log in it shows the previous login''s username and password. How can I stop the browser from populating a text field? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Diego --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to

No RTFM?
What do you think about adding a "No RTFM" policy to the R mailing lists? Per, "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTFM": The Ubuntu Forums and LinuxQuestions.org, for instance, have instituted "no RTFM" policies to promote a welcoming atmosphere.[8][9]. RTFM [and] "Go look on google" are two inappropriate responses to a question. If you don't know the

negate the regexp in validates_format_of
Railsters: ActiveRecord''s validation system puts other database systems to shame. However, the newbies might not know how to write a regexp that excludes a match, instead of tests for it. Understand - I''m just asking this question to help them. I have been using Regexps since ''grep'' on Xenix! But the newbies here might not know how to do this:

Best 1.5TB drives for consumer RAID?
Which consumer-priced 1.5TB drives do people currently recommend? I had zero read/write/checksum errors so far in 2 years with my trusty old Western Digital WD7500AAKS drives, but now I want to upgrade to a new set of drives that are big, reliable and cheap. As of Jan 2010 it seems the price sweet spot is the 1.5TB drives. As I had a lot of success with Western Digital drives I thought I would
