model-based clustering
Hello, I was wondering whether a Poisson mixture modeler/cluster analysis package is available for R. I scanned CRAN packages and couldn't find anything but I thought I'd ask. If not could anyone recommend a non-R open source package. I have found 'snob' but this program seems a bit hard to use in an automated, non interactive fashion. regards, Murad -- Murad Nayal M.D. Ph.D.

silhoutte.default bugs
Hello all, This might have been fixed in later versions (I am using R1.7.0), r-help archive contains messages reporting similar problems but no reports of codes fixes. I have encountered a couple of problems using the silhouette function. one occurs when the clustering contains clusters composed of 1 element (Martin Maechler posted code few months ago that fixes a similar problem that occurs

Mailing list <-> forum gateway
Hi all, First off - this is not flame bait or a troll. It's a genuine question. Since the forum gateway was introduced, it is my opinion that this list is getting flooded with newbie questions. Check the "I just installed Ubuntu" thread for a typical example. I wish to silently remove all wine-forum posts and their replies from my inbox. I plan to filter based on From:

Linksys SRW224P POE Switch
We are currently considering the Linksys POE switch for a small Asterisk office deployment. There will be no separate wiring closet to put it in. Can anybody tell me if this switch has a loud fan? Users would not be able to tolerate a loud noise close by. Otherwise we will go with a fanless desktop switch. Thanks, -- Andres

calculating correlation of a Supply/Demand measure and price change (in high frequency time series data)
Regarding "financial" data: I have a high frequency (1 minute) measure of supply/demand and I'd like to know if it has any influence on short term price changes (also 1 minute). Question: How do I calculate the correlation between this supply/demand measure and price changes (correctly)? Some facts about that data: The price changes and supply/demand measure are non-normal. Today I updated to trunk the toolchain for my work developing on Cortex-M4F. I was super excited to see three commits by Tim Northover that actually attempt to improve the machine code generation for my target, or any ARM target for that matter (as opposed to other important work on compiler correctness or architectural elegance or formatting comment white-space, I mean). Solaris utmp problems
Could all those who were having problems with utmp logging on Solaris please try the test release at: http://violet.ibs.com.au/openssh/files/test/openssh-TEST-2000053100.tar.gz Users on other platforms, particularly HP/UX, AIX and SCO are invited as well, to test compatibility. The login code is heaps cleaner now. -d -- | "Bombay is 250ms from New York in the new world order" -

kernel panic during zfs import [UPDATE]
Hello everybody, just to let you know what happened in the meantime: I was able to open a Service Request at Oracle. The issue is a known bug (Bug 6742788 : assertion panic at: zfs:zap_deref_leaf) The bug has bin fixed (according to Oracle support) since build 164, but there is no fix for Solaris 11 available so far (will be fixed in S11U7?). There is a workaround available that works
