Replication via sneakernet
Is there a way to get a running transaction log from a Dovecot instance to synchronize (and I use that word very, very loosely) multiple instances that don't share a network? Why I would want to do such a thing: I have a couple way stations along a long, winding road through very hilly country, and at each of these stations, I have a few people (and many, many more at one end of the road).

ACL -Manage with Windows security tab?
Hi Guys, I am attempting to configure AC:L's I have enabled it in smb.conf for my share and remounted my fs with acl enabled. However if I attempt to edit security permissions for the group "Domain Users" it creates two more group "CREATOR GROUP" and "CREATOR OWNER" and refreshes the security properties and then just resets the tick boxes i had selected. data set changes
...location and the only way to update the data set on h3 is to copy data from a DVD to h3's hard disk. When I run rsync again the next week on h2, I want to write any changes that have occurred to the data set to a sperate directory on h2. Those changes must then be burned to a DVD and then sneakernetted to h3 for an update to the h3 data set there. Does anyone have a perl or other tool that can do this. I have the rsync script running and have pulled the baseline dataset from h1 to both h2 and h3. Now I need to get changes to h3 somehow. -- Dale Bohl dbohl@sgi.com SGI IT/MWOPS (715)-726-8406

Branch stuff
I've been playing with the current Monty branch and I've found a case where it performs poorly. I havn't had a chance to verify the mainline (network at home isn't working; System with good headphones isn't on net, and I've only sneakernetted the branch).. The gspi35_1 sounds like it's suffering from preecho. I changed the preecho threshold to make more shortblocks, but it sounds worse. I had believed that short blocks were fixed in hte branch.. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: htt...

broken mdboxes
Hello, I was forced to do an emergency server migration with about 3000 mailboxes and I botched it somewhat. Hoping to find some help here. My symptoms are, users showing apparently deleted mail messages, some replicated mail, and a time period of mail that is just 'missing'. The source server is centos 6.10 with dovecot 2.2.5, and the destination is ubuntu 16 / dovecot 2.2.22. User

optimization progress
Hi all, The decoder is down 30% execution time, identical bit output. Didn't get the mdct yet; 1024 point mdct is a bit much to brute-force, and I'm not going to hand-unroll the whole thing either (the machine- unrolled version produced a 1.5M executable; understandably, it wasn't very fast. Still waiting for processors with 1.5M L1 code caches ;-) Slowest parts now are: -- mdct --

That pesky udial.wav again...
I finally got RC3 built on my home machine (had to sneakernet in a tarball of libcurl to get it to build :-( ) and started testing it out on the range of quality levels, side by side with lame using it's range of vbr quailty modes. Overall, it sounds pretty good, but I haven't really tested a good range yet, as I ended up starting on udial.wav... vorbis handles it ok up to quality 3,

Dovecot's brittle configuration syntax
Hi there, Whilst trying to come up with a minimal configuration for Dovecot: http://dabase.com/blog/Minimal_Dovecot/ I noticed the configuration syntax is a bit admin unfriendly. It's easy to get an infamous Error code 89. Is there any back story to the grammar or language this configuration is in? Kind regards,

Poor man''s backup by attaching/detaching mirror drives on a _striped_ pool?
Hi, one quick&dirty way of backing up a pool that is a mirror of two devices is to zpool attach a third one, wait for the resilvering to finish, then zpool detach it again. The third device then can be used as a poor man''s simple backup. Has anybody tried it yet with a striped mirror? What if the pool is composed out of two mirrors? Can I attach devices to both mirrors, let them

ZFS on Linux in production?
We are a CentOS shop, and have the lucky, fortunate problem of having ever-increasing amounts of data to manage. EXT3/4 becomes tough to manage when you start climbing, especially when you have to upgrade, so we're contemplating switching to ZFS. As of last spring, it appears that ZFS On Linux http://zfsonlinux.org/ calls itself production ready despite a version number of 0.6.2, and

batch-mode fixes [was: [PATCH] fix read-batch SEGFAULT]
Chris, to put things in the right prespective, you should read (if you haven't done so already) the original paper describing the design behind batch mode. The design and implementation of this functionality goes back to a project called the Internet2 Distributed Storage Infrastructure (I2-DSI). As part of that project, the authors created a modified version of rsync (called rsync+)

[PATCH 0/4] Various p2v fixes and features
A mixed bag, but all the patches make sense together! Patch 1: Fix a bug that Tingting found: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1256222 Patch 2: Revert a patch that makes no sense now that we've added virt-v2v into base RHEL. This is just included because it's a cleanup needed before applying patch 3. Patch 3: Add the ability to use SSH identities (private keys) for virt-p2v
