seeking a Speex programmer for Windows
...r. Thank you for your help.
Windows Sound Recorder with my ACM wrapper already does constant bitrate at various quality levels.
Once Jean-Marc comes up with a stable 1.1 release branch, this will get updated to include noise
cancellation and all the other latest improvements.
The sound recorder (sndrec32.exe) is shipped with Windows from Win95 or later for sure. Speex has to
be selected as the codec first, which may be a minor inconvenience to the user. ;)
There should be sample programs in some Microsoft SDKs (possibly the platform SDKs) on which
one can base a "speex-only" recorder usi...

It isn't just starcraft's setup.exe that does this. sndrec32.exe also
exhibits this behavior, making me guess that it is the act of playing
the sound which is the root of the crash. Short sounds, however, such as
the sound when you highlight another menu item in starcraft's setup.exe,

Playing GSM files in Windows
For the archives...
In trying to play GSM files in Windows (Windows XP for me, but in
general) I found no help on Google, so when I figured it out I thought I
would post it here.
Q: How do I play GSM Files in Windows?
A: Use Quicktime, it supports the GSM audio format directly.

Music on Hold Quality
Does anyone know how to maximize music on hold quality on calls inbound
from PSTN? I know that it is common to have choppy and static sounding
music on hold when connecting via PSTN but how can that be minimized? I
assume that the bitrates, type of music, etc can minimize the effects.
Does anyone have any experience in this area? Do you know where I
should look for more information?
