Red Hat patch kills streaming
...ame up with the old kernel. No biggee, we
were in a blackout time anyway since we are not allowed to stream
certain national broadcasts, so I re-installed just to try out something
new.
I patched the kernel with all the updates, THEN installed icecast, lame
and MuSE. No luck. No streaming. It took sndconfig a couple tries to
find the card, but then it played sound no problem. Played some MP3s to
test.
So I did another quick re-install to see if I was crazy and without
patching the kernel, icecast, lame and MuSE fired right up. No problem.
Came out of the blackout streaming.

Sound failure in CentOS 6.8
...iles on my system and another CentOS 6.8 system with working
sound and I haven't found any differences relating to sound configuration.
I've scoured the web for help, and found a few sites where people reported the
same problem, but none of their "solutions" work. Many refer to sndconfig and
system-config-soundcard which don't exit in 6.8.
I've spent countless hours looking through alsa (and other) documentation for
any hints that might help. Nothing.
If I crank up the volume on the speakers, and set kmixer to max, I hear a low
level of white noise coming from the spea...

How do you pronounce 'Ogg Vorbis'?
Greets,
Every linux user that sets up a sound card using sndconfig heres Linus
pronouncing "Linux" - I confess that's how I learned to pronounce it
right, until then I prononced it 'l-EYE-nucks' - I was wondering -
what's the correct pronounciation of 'Ogg Vorbis'?
I pronounce it 'OOOg' (a long 'O' sound or a port...

How can I disable sound?
I usually don't setup any GUI on my Linux systems. Yesterday I installed
with X and Gnome on a spare system for some testing and hit a problem.
Right after login the system freezes. The system froze already earlier
when I opted to test the sound card on the Welcome screen and when I login
with the alternative login choice xterm and shut down it freezes when

multiple liveice sources
Hi,
I am trying to stream two different sources with two soundcards using
liveice and icecast, all from single Linux box. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible?
I tried creating two sets in the liveice config file where I specified
different devices. No erros but the latter source was streamed on both
mount points. Running two instances of liveice talking to one instance of
icecast failed.
