Another system with no sound
I am also having an issue with no sound on some CentOS desktop systems. I manage about 3 dozen desktops. These are all Lenovo ThinkCentre systems of varying vintages, but there are only 2 distinct sound controllers among all of them:

Passing audio to DomU
I am having difficulty configuring a DomU running WinXP for audio. My
hardware is as follows:
00:05.0 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev
a2)
I tried all sorts of settings in my config
soundhw=''snd_hda_intel''
soundhw=''snd''
The domain hangs (runs fine with no sound setting) and I get the following:

Audio issue(s)
I just bought a new (refurbished) Everexe StepNote laptop with a VIA
C7-M CPU and a VIA chipset, installed CentOS 5.4 on it and the audio
is not working.
I looked around for a sound driver for the VIA vt1708/a, which is what
it claims to have (see below), but that didn't work either.
Any pointers as to what I'm missing?

Audio fails on centos 5.5 sony laptop - snd-hda-intel
Hi List, been chasing my tail for the last two hours and getting nowhere
on my wifes laptop.
I only do updates monthly on her machine, as it is safely behind
firewalls and only does email and browser stuff.
I have never had audio problems on this laptop, Centos just worked from
day one - even the wireless.
It appears that the 5.5 kernels and related audio driver snd-hda-intel
do not function.

Audio weirdness on CentOS 6.2 with flash?
Hi List,
I have an ASUS G73S laptop with our favorite OS installed and all
up-to-date.
Sound has always "just worked"
When I use the Preferences>Sound app I can setup the hardware, input,
output and was overall very impressed.
One can check each speaker and the laptop has a front left and right and
also has a bass speaker which seems to be connected to the left rear.

Hello,
When I was running CentOS 5.2 (and other Liuux distribution) on an Asus
W2J laptop, I never get sound.
I upgraded to CentOS 5.3.

I checked channels with alsamixer, mix, kamix ....
I still have no sound using aplay alsa command or whatever else audio

Trying to check my configuration I discovered that the snd-hda-codec.ko

Madwifi just seems to work in Centos 5
I have not installed the madwifi specific kernel stuff (kdml and
hal-kdml) from atrpms. I have installed with wpa rpms.
And my Atheros card is working with almost no work on my part (other
than runing wpa_supplicant as a deamon).
Nice!

I converted an ext4 filesystem with btrfs-convert, mounted it, and wanted to do "lzop -d ...".
The result was an immediate Oops (btrfs is on LVM, on dm-crypt, on /dev/sdb which is USB-connected).

Dear all,

when plugging in an external USB btrfs disk.
Today I had a BUG which is purely ext3 related.
The last bug was with yesterdays latest git checkout.
Here are the three bugs/oops:

iozone remove_suid oops...
Having done a current checkout, creating a new FS and running iozone
[1] on it results in an oops [2]. remove_suid is called, accessing
offset 14 of a NULL pointer.
Let me know if you''d like me to test any fix, do further debugging or
get more information.
Thanks,

fsfuzz testing: some results
Testing with a modified copy of the fsfuzz, the btrfs filesystem
hanged with the following output in dmesg. The system still remain
responsive, except for the terminal that was doing the testing. Any
attempt to list files in the btrfs-mounted directory will block as
well.
I am not sure how to proceed from here. Possibly to reboot the
system next. But anyone can shed some suggestion?
